Temple Architecture:

Sattainathar temple is in Dravidian style of construction. The temple is believed to have been built in three different levels in different timeline. Cholas, Pallavas and Pandian kings are said to have contributed to the development of the temple-complex. The temple has two sets of Gopurams and is surrounded by many Prakarams (Meaning: Corridors). The temple-complex is protected by high walls. Goddess Parvati has been installed in the lower level and popular as Sthira Sundari. Images of ashta Bhairava have been installed in this temple and hence considered as a true Dakshina Varanasi.
