Thirumananjeri a village located near Cauvery River in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu owes the name to the wedding of Shiva- Parvati. ‘Thirumanam’ means marriage; ‘Cheri’ denotes a village or hamlet. Thirumanamjeri, hence means Place of marriage. As per legend, Shiva married Parvathi at this place. The Shiva temple here is popular as ‘Sri Kalyana Sundareswarar Swamy Temple’.
