ಭಕ್ತಾನುಗ್ರಹಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ರುದ್ರದೇವರು ಲಿಂಗರೂಪವನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿದರು. ಯಜುರ್ವೇದದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ನಮಕಪ್ರಶ್ನ, ಚಮಕಪ್ರಶ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ಪಾರಾಯಣ ಮಾಡುತ್ತ ಶಿವನ ಲಿಂಗಕ್ಕೆ ಅಭಿಷೇಕ ಮಾಡಿದಲ್ಲಿ ಮನೋನಿಯಾಮಕರಾದ ರುದ್ರದೇವರ ಅನುಗ್ರಹವನ್ನು ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಬಸುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಶಯವಿಲ್ಲ.
