During Mahashivratri, devotees are on fasting and wake up through the whole night called ‘Jagaran’ and get the blessings of Panchalinga Darshana in Sri Someshwara Swamy temple. One week before the Shivratri festival, during sunrise, the bright sun rays fall on Maha Mantapa, Navarang Mantapa and on Sanctum Sanctorum through Vimana Gopura, this is the architectural speciality of this temple.
The pallakki utsav of Sri Kamakshamma and Lord Someshwra Swamy is historic one. After the Dharmaraya Swamy Karaga on chitra pournami, Hoovina pallakki Utsava is celebrated on 1st or 2nd Saturday of Chaitra masa. About 70 to 80 temple’s Hoovina Pallakki are participated in this grand fete. Lakhs of devotees in and around Bangalore witness the Utsav.

ಶ್ರೀ ಸೋಮೇಶ್ವರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಮಹಾಶಿವರಾತ್ರಿಯಂದು ಉಪವಾಸ, ಜಾಗರಣೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲ ಭಕ್ತಾಧಿಗಳು ಪಂಚಲಿಂಗ ದರ್ಶನ ಮಾಡಿ ಪುನೀತರಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮತ್ತು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ವಿಶೇಷವೆಂದರೆ ಶಿವರಾತ್ರಿಗೆ ವಾರಮೊದಲೆ ಬೆಳಗಿನ ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯವಾದನಂತರ ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಪ್ರಖರ ಕಿರಣಗಳು ವಿಮಾನ ಗೋಪುರದ ಮೇಲ್ಭಾಗದಿಂದ ಮಹಾ ಮಂಟಪ, ನವರಂಗ ಮಂಟಪ, ಹಾಗೂ ಗರ್ಭಗುಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಶ್ರೀ ಸೋಮೇಶ್ವರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಯ ಶಿರಸ್ಸಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರಜ್ವಲಿಸುವುದು ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ವಾಸ್ತು ಶಿಲ್ಪದ ವೈಶಿಷ್ಯ್ಟ.
ಶ್ರೀ ಕಾಮಾಕ್ಷಮ್ಮನವರ ಮತ್ತು ಸೋಮೇಶ್ವರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಯ ಹೂವಿನ ಪಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾದದ್ದು. ಈ ಪಲ್ಲಕ್ಕೋತ್ಸವವು ಚೈತ್ರ ಪೌರ್ಣಮಿಯ ದಿನದಂದು ಧರ್ಮರಾಯ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಯ ಕರಗ ನಡೆದ ನಂತರ 1 ಅಥವಾ 2ನೇ ವಾರದ ಶನಿವಾರ. ಈ ಉತ್ಸವದ ಹಿಂದೆ ಸುಮಾರು 70 ರಿಂದ 80 ಇತರ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳ ಹೂವಿನ ಪಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿಗಳು ಇದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಈ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಲು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಜನರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸುತ್ತ ಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ಜನ ಭಕ್ತಾಧಿಗಳು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
