Panchamrita, as the name indicates consisting of Ksheeram (Milk), Dadhi (Curd/Yogurt), Ghritam (Ghee), Naalikera (Coconut water) and Madhu (Honey) are used for anointing the deity. It is mentioned in Agama Shaastra scriptures, that performing Abhishekam with each of these Panchamrit Dravya along with Mantra chanting yields a particular desire.

This Abhisheka is performed to purify and rejuvenate the deity, as well as to invoke the positive energies associated with the ingredients.
