Goddess Chandi is the central deity of the Navaratris. She is the protector of the righteous and the destroyer of the unrighteous, and takes one to the ultimate goal of Moksha (salvation), by helping each individual to fight and defeat the inner negative forces.

Sengazhuneer Amman Temple (செங்கழுநீர் அம்மன் கோவில்) is an ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Parvati (Shakti) more than ten centuries old, situated in Pondicherry Kshetra. A grand festival is celebrated every year for six continuous Fridays starting from the Tamil month of Aadi. Manakula Vinayagar Temple is one of the ancient temples in Pondicherry Kshetra. Being more than 500 years old, it has an illustrious history and is one of the oldest temples in the region. Thollaikkathu Siddar a saint (referred as Siddar in Tamil language) is said to have got Siddhi (enlightenment) from the deity Manakula Vinayagar and attained Samadhi in this temple.
