Importance of Bhairava Homam

Who is Bhairava or Lord Kaala Bhairav?

Bhairava or  Lord Kaala Bhairav, the fierce and destructive form of Lord Shiva. He is also popularly known as Kshetrapala Bhairava (Meaning – the Protector Deity). Pujas like Bhairava Homam or Ashta Bhairava Abhishekam are offered in many Kshetras and temples.

According to Rudra Yamala Tantra, there are eight main forms of Bhairav assigned to each cardinal direction. Also, described are 64 forms of Bhairav, just like 64 forms of Yoginis.
