Sri Durga Deepa Namaskara Puja

Sri Durga Puja or worship has been an age old practice prescribed in Shakteya Principle. Avatar of Goddess Durga happened due to the combined efforts of Hari, Hara and Brahma as per Puranas.

Durga is depicted as riding a lion or a tiger. A tiger symbolizes unlimited power. Durga riding a tiger indicates that she is in complete control of the unlimited power and uses it to protect virtue and destroy evil. The lion is a symbol of uncontrolled animal nature (such as anger, arrogance, selfishness, greed, jealousy, desire to harm others etc.). Durga is depicted riding a lion, reminding us to control these animal instincts in us.

She is usually shown wearing a red sari.  “Colour Red” symbolizes action and the red clothes signify that she destroys evil, protecting mankind from pain and suffering.

There are plenty of methods prescribed in the Scriptures to please Sri Durga Devi for achieving the desire. Sri Durgadeepa Namaskar Pooja is a day’s Puja performed in the evening time.

Goddess Durga symbolizes the divine forces (positive energy) known as divine shakti that is used against the negative forces of evil and wickedness. She protects her followers from evil dark negative forces. It is believed that Goddess Durga is the combined form of powers of Goddesses Lakshmi, Kali and Saraswati.

The word Durga (दुर्गा) literally means “Impassable, Invincible and Unassailable”.
