Sri Hrishikesha Tirtha was the disciple of Sri Madhvacharya, exponent of Madhwa Philosophy. It is said that “Sri Sri Hrishikesha Tirtha” and his ancestors belong to Palimar village. Earlier the Palimar was known “Palabharapura”. Historians like Sri. Guraraj Bhat say there are inscriptions inside the temple. According to the inscription, Sri Madhwacharya established Sri Palimar Mutt, around eight Centuries ago and built the temple of Vishnu Murthy and Lord Shiva. Recently, this religious place was renovated under the patronage of Sri Sri Vidhyadheesha Tirtha, the present pontiff of Sri Palimar Mutt. Theertha Mantapa, Suthupouli, cluster of deities such as Nagadevatha, Raktheshwari and Jodu Panjurli {Dharma Daiva} have also been consecrated in the premises. ಅಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮ ಜಗದ ಅದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಯತಿವರೇಣ್ಯರು ಶ್ರೀಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರು. ಇವರ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಹೃಷೀಕೇಶ ತೀರ್ಥರ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಮೂಲ ಸ್ಥಳ ಪಲಿಮಾರು. ಹಿಂದೆ ಈ ಊರನ್ನು "ಫಲಭಾರಪುರ" ವೆಂದು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆಂಬ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖವಿದೆ. ಈ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವು ಹರಿ ಹರ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಅನೇಕ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳ ತಾಣವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಂಭವಿ ಮೊದಲಾದ ನದಿಗಳು ಹರಿಯುತ್ತವೆ. ಖ್ಯಾತ ಇತಿಹಾಸಕಾರರಾದ ಡಾ. ಗುರುರಾಜ ಭಟ್ಟರು ಮತ್ತು ಇನ್ನಿತರ ಇತಿಹಾಸಕಾರರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯದಂತೆ ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಒಳಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಲಾಶಾಸನಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬಹುದಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಶಿಲಾಶಾಸನದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಪರಮಪೂಜ್ಯ ಶ್ರೀ ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಎಂಟು ಶತಮಾನಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಪಲಿಮಾರು ಮಠವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿ, ಶ್ರೀವಿಷ್ಣುಮೂರ್ತಿ ದೇವಾಲಯ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿ ಶ್ರೀದೇವರ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವರೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗಷ್ಟೇ ಈ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವು ಪಲಿಮಾರು ಮಠಾಧೀಶರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿದ್ಯಾಧೀಶ ತೀರ್ಥ ಶ್ರೀಪಾದಂಗಳವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀರ್ಣೋದ್ಧಾರ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು ತೀರ್ಥ ಪಂಟಪ, ಸುತ್ತುಪೌಳಿ, ಪರಿವಾರ ದೇವತೆಗಳಾದ ನಾಗ, ರಕ್ತೇಶ್ವರಿ, ಜೋಡು ಪಂಜುರ್ಲಿ (ಧರ್ಮ ದೈವ)ಗಳನ್ನು ಸಹ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

The surrounding area of the temple has three peepal trees with platforms. During Annual Festival, the procession Idols of Lord Sri Vishnumurthy are kept on all the three platforms and worshipped. Sathyanarayana Pooja is performed in a grand manner on every Full Moon Day. Milk Payasa {Form of Sweet prepared from Milk} is offered to Lord Sri Vishnumurthy daily. This is a very special offering to the god here. ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಮುಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ಅಶ್ವತ್ಥಕಟ್ಟೆಗಳಿದ್ದು, ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ಜಾತ್ರಾಮಹೋತ್ಸವದಂದು ದೇವರ ಉತ್ಸವ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯನ್ನಿಟ್ಟು ಪೂಜಿಸುವುದು ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ವಾಡಿಕೆ. ಪ್ರತಿ ಹುಣ್ಣಿಮೆಯಂದು ಸತ್ಯನಾರಾಯಣನ ಪೂಜೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಪ್ರತಿ ನಿತ್ಯ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಹಾಲುಪಾಯಸ ಸಮರ್ಪಣೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ವಿಶೇಷ.
