Some 800 years ago, a sage who was particularly a devotee of Devi, was undergoing an austerity in Kadungalloor. After his attaining Samadhi, his followers-disciples began to lighten a lamp in the Samadhi place. After some 300 years, the Alangadu Dynasty was found to be going to an unsafe and non-continuing state, devoid of progenies. The king made an announcement; he was ready to donate the ½ of country’s whole land for any remedial measure advised by anybody from any part. From Vazhappalli Mana of Malabar, a Bhishagwara group was entering and they took over the venture. The King was happily blessed with, as the result was rejoicing. Now it was the part of Dakshina land to be received by the Bhishagwaras. But they, with every softness, rejected the offer by the King. Instead, they requested for some land never turns to be grains or powder even after any kick or punch or so. The King was pleased with gifting a place free of tax, wherein the pujas were in the initial periods. The Vaidyar group felt the presence of their own ‘Paradevatha’ there and once again they began with their pujas all. These masters had more ‘Kuladevathas’ whom they were ceremonially propitiating. ഏകദേശം 800 വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുൻപ് ദേവീ ഉപാസകനായ ഒരു സന്ന്യാസി കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂരിൽ തപസ്സു ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സമാധിക്ക് ശേഷം ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവിടെ വിളക്ക് വെക്കുകയും മറ്റുമുള്ള പതിവുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. തുടർന്ന് 500 വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുൻപ് ആലങ്ങാട് രാജാവിന്റെ സന്തതി പരമ്പര അന്യം നിന്ന് പോകുമെന്ന് കണ്ടപ്പോൾ, തങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് സന്താന സൌഭാഗ്യമുണ്ടാകുന്നതിന് സഹായിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്ക്‌ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ പകുതി നൽകാമെന്ന് രാജാവ് വിളംബരം നടത്തുകയും മലബാറിലെ വാഴപ്പിള്ളി മനയ്ക്കലിൽ നിന്ന് പ്രഗത്ഭരായ വൈദ്യന്മാരെത്തി ചികിത്സിക്കുകയും, രാജാവിന് സന്താന സൗഭാഗ്യമുണ്ടാകുകയും ചെയ്തു. തുടര്‍ന്ന്‍ രാജാവ് വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്ത പകുതിരാജ്യം ആവശ്യമില്ല ചവിട്ടിയാൽ പൊടിഞ്ഞു പോകാത്ത കുറച്ചു മണ്ണുള്ള സ്ഥലം മതിയെന്ന ഭിഷ്വഗ്വരന്മാരുടെ അപേക്ഷയനുസരിച്ചു ആദ്യം ഉപാസന നടന്നിരുന്ന സ്ഥലം തന്നെ കരമൊഴിവാക്കി നൽകുകയും ചെയ്തു. അവിടെ തങ്ങളുടെ തന്നെ പരദേവതയായ ദേവീസാന്നിധ്യം ഗുരുക്കന്മാർ തിരിച്ചറിയുകയും വീണ്ടും ആരാധനകളാരംഭിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. അതോടൊപ്പം തന്നെ ഗുരുക്കന്മാരുടെ മറ്റ് കുലദേവതകളായ വെള്ളാം ഭഗവതി, ധന്വന്തരി, ബാലഭദ്ര, ഗണപതി, ശാസ്താവ്, സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ, ശിവന്‍, മുരുകന്‍, ഹനുമാൻ, ഘണ്ടാകർണ്ണൻ മുതലായ ദേവീദേവന്മാരെയും ആരാധിച്ചു പോന്നിരുന്നു.
