Sri Lakshmana Swami is depicted in every devotees mind as a ‘half body and half mind’ of Lord Srirama. Srirama after abandoning the Rule of Ayodhya was arriving at Ramapuram at one stage. Lakshmana, in search of his eldest was arring at the same place somehow, and he too began to dwell at Ramapuram. This belief was affirmed by the name of the place, wherein Sri Lakshmana temple is positioning. ‘One was staying with’ (Koodeppularnnavan), the name of the place was coming to be well known as Koodappulam. The same Lakshmana Swamy, placing his bow at a particular time at a place (Villu kutthiya sthalam) was coming later famed as Villlukuzhi, a place where in severe hunts had, became ‘Nayattukunnu’ and the hilly area which was fortunate enough for a long stay of Rama and Lakshmana, ‘Kudiyiruppu Mala’. It may be the authenticity and authoritativeness of the epic Ramayana, the ultimate cause behind the increasing number of devotes and visitors for “Nalambalam Pilgrimage” year after year. And every year the offerings and performances from people take the temple to the higher heights, make it ardent and splendid. ശ്രീ ലക്ഷ്മണസ്വാമി, ശ്രീരാമ ദേവൻറെ പാതി ദേഹവും പാതി മനസ്സുമാണു് എന്നാണല്ലോ വിശ്വാസം! കൈവന്ന രാജ്യ ഭരണം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുള്ള യാത്രക്കിടയിൽ, സമീപദേശമായ രാമപുരത്തു എത്തിച്ചേർന്ന ശ്രീ രാമ ദേവനെ പിൻതുടർന്നെത്തിയ ലക്ഷ്മണ കുമാരൻ, ഇവിടെ വാസമാക്കിയതു കൊണ്ടാണു ഈ സ്ഥലനാമം "കുടപ്പുലം"എന്നായതെന്നാണു് വിശ്വാസം. ശ്രീ രാമദേവന്റെീ "കൂടെപുലർന്നവൻ" എന്ന പദത്തിൽ നിന്നുമാണത്രെ "കുടപ്പുലം" ഉണ്ടായത്! ഇവിടെയടുത്ത് തന്നെയുള്ള ലക്ഷ്മണ ഭഗവാൻ "വില്ലു" കുത്തിയ സ്ഥലമായി കരുതുന്ന സ്ഥലം "വിൽക്കുഴി"യായും, നായാട്ടിനിറങ്ങിയ ഭാഗം "നായാട്ടുകുന്ന്" ആയും, രാമ-ലക്ഷ്മണന്മാർ കൂടിയിരുന്ന കുന്നിൻ പ്രദേശം "കുടിയിരുപ്പുമല"യായും ഇന്നും കാണപ്പെടുന്നത് ഈ വിശ്വാസത്തെ ബലപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു. ഇത്തരത്തിൽ നോക്കുമ്പോൾ, ഭാരതത്തിലെ ഹൈന്ദവരുടെ വിശ്വാസാധിഷ്ഠിത പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള രാമായണ കഥകളുടെ ആധികാരികത കൊണ്ടു കൂടിയായിരിക്കാം, ഈ ക്ഷേത്രവും ഇതിനു ചുറ്റുമുള്ള നാലമ്പല ദർശന ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾക്കൊപ്പം അനുദിനം ഐശ്വര്യദായകമായി അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. അനേകായിരം ഭക്തരാണു ഇവിടെയെത്തി വഴിപാടുകൾ അർപ്പിച്ചു സായൂജ്യമടയുന്നതെന്നു കാണാം!
