In olden days, the temple was alienated by other religions and groups. It was recaptured later and the wild area around this Temple was taken to a clearing process. This time Lord Vishnu’s sandals were found out. The old and wise men’s sayings support all these. Anyway, for two or more decades these sandals were the main enshrinements in the temple. Later Lord Vishnu was coming to get idolized. A ‘Thamboola prashnam” was clarifying everything; the assaultation agenda of Tippu Sultan was ruining everything. The chief priest of the temple was brutally slawn by Tippu, together with the main idol. ആദ്യകാലങ്ങളില്‍ അന്യാധീനപ്പെട്ട് മറ്റു ജാതിക്കാരുടെ കയ്യിലായിരുന്നു ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. അവരില്‍ നിന്നും ക്ഷേത്രം തിരിച്ചുപിടിച്ചതിന് ശേഷം കാട് വൃത്തിയാക്കുന്നതിനിടയില്‍ ശ്രീ മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിന്‍റെ പാദുകം ഇവിടെ നിന്നും ലഭിച്ചു എന്ന് പഴമക്കാരാല്‍ പറയപ്പെടുന്നു.പിന്നിട് ഇരുപതു വര്‍ഷത്തോളം കാലം ഈ പാദുകം തന്നെ ആയിരുന്നു ഇവിടുത്തെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ.പിന്നീടാണ്‌ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ ശ്രീ മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിനെ പ്രതിഷ്ടിക്കുന്നത്.ടിപ്പു സുല്‍ത്താന്‍റെ ആക്രമണത്താല്‍ നശിക്കപ്പെട്ടതാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം എന്ന് പിന്നീട് താംബൂല പ്രശ്നത്തില്‍ തെളിഞ്ഞു.വിഗ്രഹത്തോട് ചേര്‍ത്തു നമ്പൂതിരിയെ ടിപ്പു വെട്ടി കൊലപ്പെടുത്തുകയും അതിനു ശേഷം ക്ഷേത്രം അന്യാധീനപ്പെട്ടു പോകുകയുമായിരുന്നു.
