ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವಿರುವ ಪ್ರದೇಶವನ್ನು ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಉಪ್ಪಾರ ಹಳ್ಳಿ ಎನ್ನುವ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಳಿಮರದ ಕಟ್ಟೆ ಇದ್ದು, ಆ ಮರದ ಸಮೀಪದ ಬಂಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 'ಶ್ರೀ ಆಂಜನೇಯ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಯು ಉದ್ಭವ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಾದುರ್ಭವಿಸಿತು ಎಂಬ ನಂಬಿಕೆ. ನಾಡ ಪ್ರಭುಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಕೆಂಪೇಗೌಡರ ಸ್ವಪ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಾಂತದ ಮೇರೆಗೆ, ಯಲಹಂಕ ಗ್ರಾಮಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವ ದ್ವಾರದ ಅಭಿಮುಖವಾಗಿ ನಿಂತಿರುವ 'ಉದ್ಭವ ಮೂರ್ತಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಆಂಜನೇಯ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ' ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯ ದರ್ಶನ ಪಡೆದು ನಗರ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಪ್ರತೀತಿ. ಈ ದೇವರ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಳೆಕಾಯಿ ಶ್ರೀ ವೆಂಕಟಪ್ಪ ಎನ್ನುವವರು ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಭಕ್ತರಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅವರಿಂದ ದೈವ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಶ್ರೀ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀನಾರಾಯಣ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಸುಮಾರು 100 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾಪಿಸಲಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದರಂತೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕವಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ ದೇವಿಯ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯನ್ನು ಸಹ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾಪಿಸಲಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಗೆ ಕಾಲಾಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ಗುಡಿಯನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿ, ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ಪೂಜಾದಿಗಳು ನಡೆಯಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗಿ, ಈ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯ ಎರಡೂ ಪಾರ್ಶ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಆಂಜನೇಯ, ಶ್ರೀ ಗರುಡ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿ ಇದೆ. ಈ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳು ಶಿಲಾ ಬಂಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿತವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಶಿಲಾ ಬಂಡೆಯ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಭಾಗವನ್ನು ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಹಿಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣ ಬಹುದಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ಗರ್ಭಗುಡಿ, ನವರಂಗವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು, ನವೀನ ಶೈಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. 1980 ರಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಮಾನ ಗೋಪುರ ನವೀಕರಣವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ನೆಲಹಾಸಿನ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಗು 1983 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸ್ಥಾನ ಮಂಟಪ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಭಕ್ತರ, ದಾನಿಗಳ ಸಹಕಾರದಿಂದ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. Once upon a time, the present temple area was called as Uppara halli. It is believed that, in this area, the emersion of Lord Anjaneya Swamy in a rock near Banyan tree with pulpit had arose. As the history says, The Chieftain of Bangalore, Sri Kempegowda, before constructing the Bangalore city, took the darshan of ‘Udbhava Moorty Sri Anjaneya Swamy’, which was facing towards gateway of Yelahanka village. Balekaayi Sri Venkatappa was a great devotee of this temple and with an impulse, he consecrated Sri LakshmiNarayana idol about 100 years back and separate sannidhi for Goddess Lakshmi Devi. In the mean time, after constructing the temple for sannidhi, they started offering Puja. Sri Anjaneya and Sri Garuda deities were made in rock cut and situated on either side of the sannidhi. The whole rock can be seen at the backyard of the temple. The sanctum sanctorum and Navarang mantap was constructed with modern architecture. Temple’s Vimana Gopura and flooring work was renovated during 1980 and in 1983 with the help of devotees and donors, the temple got a new look with Asthana Mantap.
