The temple history creates, bhakthi in every follower mind. King Ramavarma of Cochin Regency, also known as Rajarshi Ramavarma, was a follower of God Sri Hanuman. The ruler’s diwan was Shri Venketa Rao, a pure Brahmin from Karnataka. The perpetual upasana of Brahmin diwan, took Lord Hanuman to bless his devotee. As a boon from Lord Hanuman, Diwan got an idol of the Lord from under the earth. He took it home, and began his daily puja. At one stage he felt that, it must be taken outside for the devotees, and all the people. The King was pleased with the demand of Diwan, and allowed a portion of land, and the idol was consecrated herein ceremonially, with every conventionality. This present Hanuman Kovil is at the same place, which completed its all construction renovation programs, by the year 1857.
