This area happens to be the ancient sacred Tapovana of Atri Maharishi and Mahasati Anasuya. It is said in “Tantra Chudamani” that this place is the “karnabhaga” or the ear of numerous Shakti Peethas in India. This particular Peetha is said to have been called Jaya Peetha and the presiding deity Bhairava as Abiru Bhairava. It is said that in the distant past, many gods, goddesses, Rishis, Munis and Siddhas, including Devarshi Narada, had propitiated the Divine Mother Sri Rajarajeshwari at this very place and attained “siddhi”. ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಜರಾಜೇಶ್ವರಿ ದೇವಾಲಯವಿರುವ ಸ್ಥಳವು ಹಿಂದೆ ಅತ್ರಿ ಮಹರ್ಶಿಗಳ ತಪೋವನ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಹಾಸತಿ ಅನುಸೂಯಾದೇವಿಯ ವಾಸಸ್ಥಳವಾಗಿತ್ತೆಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. “ತಂತ್ರ ಚೂಡಾಮಣಿ”ಯೆಂಬ ಗ್ರಂಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಿರುವಂತೆ, ಈ ಸ್ಥಳವು ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠಗಳ “ಕರ್ಣ” ಭಾಗವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಸ್ಥಳವು ಜಯಪೀಠವೆಂದು ಹೆಸರು ಪಡೆದಿತ್ತು. ಇದೇ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕ ಋಷಿಮುನಿಗಳು, ಸಿದ್ಧರು, ದೇವರ್ಷಿ ನಾರದರೂ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ, ತಪಗೈದು ಸಿದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದರೆಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

In the early hours of the auspicious Sankranti Day or Uttarayana Punyakala on January 14, 1960, Sri Tiruchi Swamiji was travelling by a car to Mysuru for a Pada Puja, along with two disciples. At about six miles south-west of Bangalore, he saw in the sky, three Garudas (golden eagles) flying in a clockwise direction. He saw in them the images of Goddess Durga, Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati, who had appeared before him on Mount Kailas. The seer got down the car and began walking on a footpath that led to a tiny village, which was then known as Kenchenahalli. He proceeded further and spotted a tiny cottage amidst a grove of guava trees around which the golden eagles were encircling. He decided to have his hermitage set up there and arranged to purchase the land. The foundation stone for the proposed hermitage was laid there by Sri Sivaratnapuri Swamiji, (now popularly known as Sri Tiruchi Mahaswamigal, between 5.30 a.m. and 6.15 a.m. on April 3, 1960. Initially, Sri Tiruchi Mahaswamigal established the Kailas Ashram at the spot. Later, the Swamiji built a temple each dedicated to Goddess Sri Rajarajeshwari and Sri Chakra. He has built an Ashram complex consisting of numerous sections, established a Pathashala for studies in Veda and Agama Shastra, a free school for modern education, branch Mutts in several places, and most important of all, a temple at the present spot which was divinely ordained. ಶ್ರೀ ತಿರುಚಿಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು 1960ನೇ ಇಸವಿಯ ಜನವರಿ ತಿಂಗಳ 14ನೇ ದಿನಾಂಕದಂದು ಪವಿತ್ರವಾದ ಸಂಕ್ರಮಣ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಶಿಷ್ಯರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಾರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾದಪೂಜಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆಂದು ಮೈಸೂರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಸುಮಾರು ಆರು ಕಿ.ಮೀ.ನಷ್ಟು ದೂರ ಕ್ರಮಿಸಿದ್ದಾಗ ಶ್ರೀಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ಗರುಡ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳು ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣಾಕಾರವಾಗಿ ಹಾರಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿದರು. ತದೇಕಚಿತ್ತರಾಗಿ ಅವಲೋಕಿಸಲಾಗಿ ಶ್ರೀಗಳಿಗೆ ಆ ಮೂರು ಗರುಡ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಾವು ಕೈಲಾಸಪರ್ವತದಲ್ಲಿ ದರ್ಶಿಸಿದ್ದ ಶ್ರೀ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿ, ಶ್ರೀ ದುರ್ಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀ ಸರಸ್ವತೀ ದೇವಿಯರ ಛಾಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡರು. ಈ ಅನುಭವದಿಂದ ರೋಮಾಂಚನಗೊಂಡ ಶ್ರೀಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ವಾಹನವನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಗರುಡ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳು ಸುತ್ತುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಕಾಲುನಡಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರಟರು. ಒಂದು ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಅನುಭವವಾಗಲು ಅವರು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನೋಡಲು ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕೆಲವು ಪೇರಲೆ ಹಣ್ಣಿನ ಮರಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಗುಡಿಸಲೊಂದು ಗೋಚರಿಸಿತು. ಅದೇ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಆಶ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದ ಶ್ರೀಗಳು ಆ ಜಾಗವನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸಲು ಉದ್ಯುಕ್ತರಾದರು. ಅಂತೆಯೇ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸಿದ ಶ್ರೀಗಳು ದಿನಾಂಕ ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್ 3, 1960ರಂದು ತಾವು ಆಶಿಸಿದ್ದ ಆಶ್ರಮನಿರ್ಮಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಅಡಿಗಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿದರು. ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ, ಶ್ರೀ ತಿರುಚಿಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಆ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈಲಾಸ ಆಶ್ರಮ ಮಹಾಸಂಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದರು. ನಂತರ, ಅದೇ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಜರಾಜೇಶ್ವರಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಶ್ರೀಚಕ್ರ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದರು. ಆಶ್ರಮದ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣದಲ್ಲಿ ವೇದ-ಆಗಮ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಾಭ್ಯಾಸಕ್ಕೆಂದು ಪಾಠಶಾಲೆ, ಆಧುನಿಕ ವಿದ್ಯಾಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಮುಂತಾದ ಕಟ್ಟಡಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದರಲ್ಲದೆ, ವಿವಿಧೆಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀಮಠದ ಶಾಖೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದರು. ಹೀಗೆ, ತಮ್ಮ ಗುರುಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಶಿವಪುರಿ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ನಿರ್ದೇಶಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಶ್ರೀ ತಿರುಚಿಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಪವಿತ್ರಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು.

His Holineess Tiruchy Mahaswamigal attained Mahasamadhi on Makara Sankranti, Friday, the 14th January 2005. ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ತಿರುಚಿ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳಂದೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧರಾಗಿರುವ ಶ್ರೀ ಶಿವರತ್ನಪುರಿ ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿಯವರು ಶ್ರೀ ಕೈಲಾಸ ಆಶ್ರಮ ಮಹಾಸಂಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು 1960 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದರು. ಕಠ್ಮಂಡುವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿದ್ದ ಶ್ರೀ ಶಿವಪುರಿ ಬಾಬಾರವರು ಶ್ರೀ ತಿರುಚಿ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳ ಗುರುಗಳೆಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಶ್ರೀ ಶಿವಪುರಿ ಬಾಬಾರವರು ಶ್ರೀ ತಿರುಚಿ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳಿಗೆ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ತೆರಳಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿದುಹೋಗಿದ್ದ ಕೆಲವು ಪುಣ್ಯದ ಕೆಲಸಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆದೇಶಿಸಿದರೆಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಕೆಲಕಾಲ ಕೈಲಾಸ ಪರ್ವತದಲ್ಲಿ ತಂಗಿದ್ದರು. ಆಗ ಅವರು ಧ್ಯಾನ ಮಗ್ನರಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ, ಶ್ರೀ ದುರ್ಗೆ, ಶ್ರೀ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ ಹಾಗೂ ಶ್ರೀ ಸರಸ್ವತೀ ದೇವಿಯರ ದಿವ್ಯದರ್ಶನವಾಯಿತೆಂದೂ, ಅಶರೀರವಾಣಿಯೊಂದರ ಮೂಲಕ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ಸೂಚಿಸಲಾಯಿತೆಂದೂ ಹೇಳಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಅಂತೆಯೇ, ಶ್ರೀ ತಿರುಚಿ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಶ್ರೀ ಕೈಲಾಸ ಆಶ್ರಮ ಮಹಾಸಂಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿ, ನಂತರ ಆಶ್ರಮದ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಜರಾಜೇಶ್ವರೀ ದೇವಿಯ ಭವ್ಯ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ, ಆಶ್ರಮ ಕಟ್ಟಡದ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣ, ವೇದಪಾಠಶಾಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದರು. ನಂತರ ಹಲವೆಡೆ, ಶ್ರೀ ತಿರುಚಿ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಶಾಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿ ಗಣಿತಾಭ್ಯಾಸಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಒತ್ತಾಸೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದರು. ದಿನಾಂಕ ಜನವರಿ 14, 2005 ರಂದು ಮಕರ ಸಂಕ್ರಾಂತಿ ಪುಣ್ಯದಿನ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ತಿರುಚಿ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಸಮಾಧಿಸ್ಧರಾದರು.

His Holiness Jagadaguru Sri Sri Sri Jayendra Puri Maha Swamiji had his first darshan of Sri Sri Sri Tiruchy Maha Swamigal in 1986. Thereafter, he conceived Sri Sri Sri Tiruchy Swamigal as his Guru and at his behest, proceeded to Haridwar, studied holy texts there for six years, spent a year in Ujjain, Kashi and other parts of North India and ultimately returned to Bangalore in 1994. He was chosen by Tiruchy Mahaswamiji as his successor and Sri Sri Sri Jayendra Puri Maha Swamiji became the Peetadhipati on December 11, 2003. Later, after the Mahasamadhi of Sri TiruchyMaha swamiji, he ascended the Acharya Peetha and since then, he has been managing the affairs of Samsthana with great enthusiasm and dedication. He is a renowned linguist with fluency in German, Italian, English and almost all South Indian languages, apart from Hindi and Sanskrit. ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಯೇಂದ್ರ ಪುರಿ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮೀಜೀಗಳಿಗೆ 1986 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ತಿರುಚಿ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳ ದರ್ಶನವಾಯಿತು. ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ತಿರುಚಿ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಂಗಳ ಅಣತಿಯಂತೆ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಯೇಂದ್ರಪುರಿ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮಿಜೀಗಳು ಹರಿದ್ವಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಆರು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕೆಂದು ತೆರಳಿದರು. ನಂತರ ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷದ ಕಾಲ ಉಜ್ಜಯಿನಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಂಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲದೇ ಕಾಶಿ ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ತರ ಭಾರತದ ಹಲವು ಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವಾಸ ಕೈಗೊಂಡು ಕೊನೆಗೆ 1994 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿದರು. ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ತಿರುಚಿ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಂಗಳು ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಯೇಂದ್ರಪುರಿ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮೀಜೀಯವರ ಯಶಸ್ಸು ಅನ್ನು ಮನಗಂಡು 2003 ರ ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 11ರಂದು ಪೀಠಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆಗೊಂಡರು. ನಂತರ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ತಿರುಚಿಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಸಮಾಧಿಸ್ಥರಾದರು. ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಯೇಂದ್ರಪುರಿ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮೀಜೀಯವರು ಮಹಾಸಂಸ್ಥಾನದ ಪೀಠವನ್ನು ಏರಿದರು. ಅಂದಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಯೇಂದ್ರಪುರಿ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿಯವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಗುರುಗಳ ಹಾದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಯೇಂದ್ರಪುರಿ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿಯವರು ಜರ್ಮನ್, ಇಟಾಲಿಯನ್, ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವು ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಿಣತಿ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಮತ್ತು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತದ ಅನೇಕ ಭಾಷೆಗಳು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಂತೆ ಹಿಂದಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಪಾಂಡಿತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
