ஸ்தல வரலாறு: படைக்கும் தொழில் தன்னிடம் மட்டுமே உள்ளது. சிவன், விஷ்ணுவிடம் இந்த சக்தி இல்லை என்பது குறித்து பிரம்மனுக்கு கர்வம் ஏற்பட்டது. இதையறிந்த விஷ்ணு, ஒரு பூதத்தை பிரம்மனிடம் அனுப்பினார் பூதத்தை பார்த்து பயந்த பிரம்மா, விஷ்ணுவிடம் சென்று,தான் படைக்காத பூதம் ஒன்று தன்னை பயமுறுத்துவதாகவும், அதனிடமிருந்து தன்னை காப்பாற்றும்படியும் வேண்டினார்.அதற்கு விஷ்ணு, உனது கர்வத்தை அடக்குவதற்காகவே இந்த பூதத்தை, அனுப்பினேன். உனக்கு ஏற்பட்ட அகங்காரத்தினால் படைக்கும் தொழில் மறந்து போகும், என்று சாபமிட்டார்,வருந்திய பிரம்மா, விஷ்ணுவிடம் சாப விமோசனம் வேண்டினார். அதற்கு விஷ்ணு பூமியில் சென்று தவம் செய்தால் விமோசனம் கிடைக்கும்,என்றார்,பிரம்மனும் புரளய காலத்திலும் அழியாத தலமான கும்பகோணம் வந்து தவம் செய்தார். யாகத்திற்கு முப்பத்து முக்கோடி தேவர்களும் முனிவர்களும் சேவை செய்தனர். அப்போது யாக குண்டத்தில் இருந்து, மகாலட்சுமி சமேதராக விஷ்ணு தோன்றினார் . சாபவிமோசனம் கொடுத்து வேதங்களை மீண்டும் சொல்லித்தந்து வேத நாராயணன் என்று பெயர் பெற்றார். தாயார் வேதவல்லி எனப்பட்டாள்.யாகம் முடிந்தவுடன் இதில் கலந்து கொண்டவர்கள் அனைவரும் அவபிருத ஸ்தானம் செய்வதற்காக விஷ்ணு தன் கதாயுதத்தால் பூமியை பிளந்து ஒரு நதியை உருவாக்கினார். இந்த நதி ஹரி சொல்லாறு என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டது. இது காலப்போக்கில் மருவி அரசலாறு என மாறியது. It is widely common that many are proud of their high learning barring a few and Lord Brahmma was no exception to this mentality. He thought that He alone can create which Lord Shiva and Vishnu cannot. Knowing this, Lord Vishnu sent a ghost (Bhooda) to Brahmma who trembled on seeing the creature. He ran to Lord Vishnu saying that a ghost not created by Him was threatening and sought protection. Lord Vishnu said that it was created by Him to check his pride and that he would also forget the art of creation. When begged for a remedy, Lord Vishnu suggested that he go to Earth and perform penance. Brahmma chose this place, kumbakonam that stays stable even after the destroying Pralaya floods. All the Devas assisted Brahmma in his penance. Pleased with Brahmma’s penance, Lord Vishnu appeared before him, taught the Vedas and reinstated Brahamma to his earlier status. Perumal became Lord Veda Narayana Perumal and Mother Vedavalli. To facilitates the final bath of Brahmma and the Devas after the penance, peruaml created a river with His club known as Hari Sollaru which later days faced changes and it is Arasalaru today.
