Since ancient times Gurukula’s were established to impart education in the subjects of Veda, Upanishads, Brahmasutra, Purana’s and Bhagavad Gita, which are claimed as the “Treasure Trove of Knowledge”. Sri Yogadeepika Vidhyapeeta was established in the year 1989 by “Sri Palimar Matha”, one among the Astha Mutt’s of Udupi. Lord Vedavyasa and Pranadevara statues are consecrated in Sri Yogadeepika Vidhyapeeta by “Sri Sri Raghupraveera Tirtha”, sage of Sri Palimar Matha, around 300 years ago. According to the history, idol of Pranadevaru was found to “Sri Sri Raghupraveera Tirtha” in the Brahmasarovara of Ghatikachala. Students pursuing education in Sri Yogadeepika Vidhyapeeta are expected to appear for three different level of Tests namely Quarterly Tests, Halfyearly Tests, and Annual Tests, which will be conducted every year. Some of the tests will be held separately by the present seer of Sri Palimar Matha. Students, who studies till Vedanta will also have an opportunity to continue their studies for another 2 years under the guidance of the present pontiff “Sri Sri Vidhyadheesha Tirtha”. ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಪತ್ತುಗಳೆಂದರೆ- ವೇದಗಳು, ಉಪನಿಷತ್ತುಗಳು, ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಸೂತ್ರ, ಪುರಾಣಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಭಗವದ್ಗೀತೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ಸುಮಾರು ಗುರುಕುಲಗಳು ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಗೊಂಡವು. ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಉಡುಪಿಯ ಅಷ್ಟ ಮಠಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾದ ಪಲಿಮಾರು ಮಠವು ಒಂದು, ಈ ಮಠವು "ಯೋಗದೀಪಿಕಾ ವಿದ್ಯಾಪೀಠ" ಎಂಬ ವಿದ್ಯಾಮಂದಿರವನ್ನು ಸರಿ ಸುಮಾರು ೧೯೮೯ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾದ ವಿದ್ಯಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ವಿದ್ಯಾ ಪೀಠದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ವೇದವ್ಯಾಸರ ಹಾಗು ಶ್ರೀ ಮುಖ್ಯಪ್ರಾಣ ದೇವರ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಗಳಿದ್ದು, ಇವು ಸರಿ ಸುಮಾರು ೩೦೦ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಪಲಿಮಾರು ಮಠದ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಯತಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ರಘುಪ್ರವೀರ ತೀರ್ಥರು ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಟಾಪಿಸಿದರೆಂಬ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖವಿದೆ. ಪ್ರಾಣದೇವರ ವಿಗ್ರಹವು ಯತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಘಟಿಕಾಚಲದ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಸರೋವರದಲ್ಲಿ ದೊರೆತಿದೆ ಎಂಬ ಐತಿಹ್ಯವಿದೆ. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಲಘು ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ, ಮಧ್ಯಾವಧಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ವಾರ್ಷಿಕಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಎಂಬ ೩ವಿಧದ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗಳು, ಪ್ರತಿವರ್ಷವೂ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಕೆಲವು ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗಳನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀಪಾದಂಗಳವರು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ನಡೆಸುವರೆಂಬ ಹೇಳಿಕೆ ಇದೆ. ವಿದ್ಯಾಪೀಠದಲ್ಲಿ ವೇದಾಂತಗಳ ತನಕ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡಿ,ನಂತರ ೨ವರ್ಷಗಳು ಶ್ರೀಪಾದಂಗಳವರ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಧಾಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡುವ ಅವಕಾಶವನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
