It is believed that Vasco da Gama had come to St. Mary's Islands during his global voyage and named one of the four islands as O Padrão de Santa Maria, in memory of Mother Mary. Malpe is at about 6 km from Udupi. These islands can be reached through boats. ಒಂದು ದಂತಕಥೆಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ವಾಸ್ಕೋ ಡಿ ಗಾಮಾ ಸಮುದ್ರಯಾನ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಸೇಂಟ್ ಮೇರಿ ದ್ವೀಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದು, ಈ ದ್ವೀಪಸಮೂಹದ ಒಂದು ದ್ವೀಪಕ್ಕೆ ಓ ಪದ್ರಾವೋ ಡಿ ಸಂತ ಮರಿಯಾ, ಎಂದು ನಾಮವಿತ್ತನು. ಈ ದ್ವೀಪಸಮೂಹದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಲ್ಕು ನಡುಗಡ್ಡೆಗಳಿವೆ. ಮಲ್ಪೆಯ ಸಮುದ್ರ ತಡಿಯಿಂದ ಅರಬ್ಬೀ ಸಮುದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ದ್ವೀಪಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಾಗಿಹೋಗಲು ದೋಣಿಗಳ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯಿದೆ. ಮಲ್ಪೆಯು ಉಡುಪಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 6 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ.

Pajaka Kshetra is at a distance of about 12 km from Udupi. It is the native place of Sri Madhwacharya, the proponant of Tattwa Vada or Dwaita Siddhanta. The house in which Sri Acharya was born and a few places where he had exhibited certain mysterious acts are still existing in this village. ಪಾಜಕ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವು ಉಡುಪಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 12 ಕಿ ಮೀ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ತತ್ವವಾದ ಅಥವಾ ದ್ವೈತ ಸಿದ್ದಾಂತದ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ಜನ್ಮ ಸ್ಥಳವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ, ಆಚಾರ್ಯ ಮಧ್ವರು ಜನಿಸಿದ ಮನೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಅವರ ಬಾಲ್ಯಾವಸ್ಥೆಯ ಹಲವಾರು ಲೀಲೆಗಳ ಕುರುಹುಗಳು ಈಗಲೂ ಲಭ್ಯವಿವೆ.

Sri Anantheswara temple in Udupi said to be over 1500 years old. Sri Madwacharya and Sri Vadiraja have glorified this place by stating that both Lord Hari, in the form of Ananta and Lord Hara in the form of linga are present in this temple. Sri Madhwacharya used to give discourses to his disciples in this temple and the seat which adored him is still preserved. ಶ್ರೀ ಅನಂತೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಾಲಯವು 1500 ವರ್ಷಗಳಷ್ಟು ಹಳೆಯದೆಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಶ್ರೀ ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀ ವಾದಿರಾಜರಿಬ್ಬರೂ, ಈ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿಯು ಅನಂತನ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಹರನು ಲಿಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ಕೊಂಡಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಶ್ರೀ ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರು, ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲೇ, ತಮ್ಮ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಪಾಠ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಶ್ರೀ ಆಚಾರ್ಯರ ಆಸನವನ್ನು ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಬಹುದಾಗಿದೆ.

Neelavara is a tiny village located at a distance of 18 km. from Udupi, near Brahmavar of Udupi district. Neelavara is situated between Kunjal in the south and River Seetha in the north.
