Dodda Ganesha Temple, which is also known as Satya Ganesha or Shakti Ganapathi temple is the most famous Vinayaka temple in Bangalore. The name Dodda came because of the huge size of Ganesha idol in the temple, whose height is 18 feet and width is 16 feet. Dodda Ganesha Temple at Basavanagudi was constructed by Kempegowda I, the founder of Bangalore. Once upon a time while he was strolling, he found a number of rocks and one of the boulders had a shape of Ganesha engraved on them. Kempegowda, therefore ordered his sculptors to convert the shape into a massive as well as a fantastic single stone idol of Lord Ganesha. The Big Bull Temple is one of the oldest temples in Bangalore built in 1537, during the period of Kempegowda, the founder of Bangalore. The huge bull situated inside the temple measures 4.5 m in height, 6.5 m in length and is said to carved from a huge single rock. Groundnut fair is held in the temple every year on last Monday, Tuesday of Hindu calendar month Karthika Masa. An interesting folklore behind the fair and the construction of the temple is, before 500 years, the bull used to be a real one and used to eat the groundnuts which were abundant at this place. Seeing him eating groundnuts, a farmer tries to scare him off that place. The bull then runs away some distance and disappears. Bugle Rock is among the most frequented tourist destinations located in Basavanagudi. This massive rock formation is assessed to be 3000 million years old. Under the rule of feudal Lord Kempegowda II, a tower was built on the rock to keep a watch over the empire. Located next to the Bull Temple, most of the rock formations on the Bugle Rock are hollow, which were earlier used for lighting lamps.Bulge Rock comprises a small park with waterfalls and fountains with beautiful entrance sculpted with rock pillars, having carvings and murals. Bugle Rock is 3,000 million years old and categorized as peninsular gneiss. Kempe Gowda II, the chieftain of Bangalore, set up four watch towers to denote the limits of Bangalore, including one on top of Bugle Rock. According to historians, a sentry was deployed at the tower during dusk. The sentry would blow the bugle and light a traditional torch. The torch could be seen from all the other three towers.
