The Ernakulam Thirumala Devaswom Temple is a 290 year old one of Gowda Saraswatha Brahims, built in the year 1727 AD. The importance of the temple is that, the main deity installation of Sree Venkitachalapathy was in between Goddesses Sreedevi and Bhoodevi and Goddess Sree Mahalakshmi at bottom. The joining of Goddess Sree Mahalakshmi and the likes made Sree Venkitchalapathy more powerful and known as Sree Lakshmi Venkiteswaran. It’s a rare consecration and thousands of devotees come regularly here for the blessings of Lord Lakshmi Venkiteshwaran. The sub deities, Sree Maha Ganapathi, Sree Mahalakshmi, Sree Hanuman, Sree Garudan and Naga Devathas (Yakshi Sannidhi), all enshrined here makes the temple blissful and blossomed. Aarattu festival which is celebrated in the month of Makaram between Pooradam and Revathi star dates is the most important annual festival of the temple. As the temple situates in the heart of the metro city, people can reach over here far easily. The temple is open for public every day and the visiting timings are 06:00 to 11.30 and 6:00 to 8.30 in the morning and evening respectively. ഗൗഡസാരസ്വത ബ്രാഹ്മണരുടെ ഉടമസ്ഥതയിലുള്ള 290 വർഷം പഴക്കമുള്ള ഒരു മഹാക്ഷേത്രമാണിത്. മറ്റു പല തിരുമല ദേവസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുടേതുമെന്ന പോലെ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രവും ഗൗഡ സാരസ്വത ബ്രാഹ്മണരുടെ സാമുദായിക ചരിത്രവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടു കിടക്കുന്നു. ഇവിടുത്തെ പ്രധാന ദേവൻ, ഇടത്തും വലത്തുമായി യഥാക്രമം ശ്രീദേവി - ഭൂദേവി ദേവതമാരും താഴ്ഭാഗത്ത് ശ്രീ മഹാലക്ഷ്മീ ദേവിയും ചേർന്ന് ആസനസ്ഥനായിരിക്കുന്ന ശ്രീ വെങ്കിടാചലപതിയാണ്. സർവ്വവിധ ഐശ്വര്യാഭിവൃദ്ധികൾക്കും കാരണഭൂതനാകുന്ന ഈ ദേവചൈതന്യം വിരളമായതും തന്മൂലം നിരവധി ഭക്തജനങ്ങളുടെ ആരാധനാലയമായി പരിലസിക്കുന്നതുമാണ്. ഇതോടൊപ്പം ഇവിടെ പ്രതിഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ള മറ്റ് ഉപദേവതകളായ ശ്രീ മഹാഗണപതി, ശ്രീ മഹാലക്ഷ്മി, ശ്രീ ഹനുമാന്, ശ്രീ ഗരുഡന്, നാഗദൈവങ്ങള് (യക്ഷി സന്നിധി) എന്നിവയും ക്ഷേത്രാങ്കണത്തെ അനുഗ്രഹദായകമാക്കുന്നു. മകരമാസത്തിലെ പൂരാടം നക്ഷത്രത്തില് തുടങ്ങി രേവതി നക്ഷത്രത്തില് അവസാനിക്കുന്ന ആറാട്ട് മഹോത്സവമാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനപെട്ട ആഘോഷം. കൊച്ചി മെട്രോസിറ്റിക്ക് അകത്ത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നതായത് കൊണ്ട് യാതൊരു വിധ യാത്രാ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുകളും ഇല്ലാതെ തന്നെ ഏതൊരാള്ക്കും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്ക് എത്തിച്ചേരുവാന് സാധിക്കുന്നതാണ്. എല്ലാ ദിവസവും ദര്ശനം നടത്തുവാന് സാധിക്കുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ദര്ശന സമയം രാവിലെ 6 മുതല് 11.30 വരെയും വൈകിട്ട് 6 മുതല് 8.30 വരെയുമാണ്.
