About Temple

Centuries’ old Kadavanthra Devi temple locates at Kadavanthra in Ernakulam District, at a distance of approx 2 KMs from Ernakulam South Railway Station. Aadiparashakthi who was the Kudumba Paradevatha, is used to be worshipped in two bhaavas here, both Durga and Bhadrakali. Now the two goddesses are enshrined with equal importance and the poojas go with every sameness and likes. Without any religious and cast bar, all are allowed to enter inside. NSS Karayogam is the governing authority at present. The ‘Abheeshta Siddhidayaka’ Ganapathi, Amritha Kalasha Shastha carrying Amruth offering remedy against every diseases and sorrow, Nagaraja, Nagayakshi and Brahmarakshas are the sub-deities inside the temple premises. A 7 day Thalappoli is well celebrated in the month of Meenam. In these days, it is particularly on Bharani star day for Bhadrakali and the next Karthika star day for Durga Devi. In the month of Midhunam, on Punartham star day, the grand Prathishta Mahothsavam is also felicitated under the divine guidance of Temple Thanthri.

എറണാകുളം പട്ടണത്തില്‍ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന കടവന്ത്രയിലാണ് നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകൾ പഴക്കമുള്ള കടവന്ത്ര ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. കുടുംബ പരദേവതയായിരുന്ന ആദിപരാശക്തി മൂര്‍ത്തിയെ ഭദ്രകാളി, ദുര്‍ഗ്ഗ ഭാവങ്ങളില്‍ ആരാധിച്ചു പോന്നിരുന്നു. ഇപ്പോള്‍ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ ഈ രണ്ട് ഭാവങ്ങളെയും തുല്യ പ്രാധാന്യത്തോടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ച് പൂജകള്‍ ചെയ്തു വരുന്നു. ജാതി മത ഭേദമില്ലാതെ എല്ലാ വിശ്വാസികള്‍ക്കും പ്രവേശനമുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഭരണം ഇപ്പോള്‍ NSS കരയോഗത്തിന്‍റെ കീഴിലാണുള്ളത്‌ അഭീഷ്ട സിദ്ധി നല്‍കുന്ന ഗണപതി, സകല രോഗങ്ങള്‍ക്കും വ്യാധികള്‍ക്കും ശമനവുമായി കൈകളില്‍ അമൃത് വഹിച്ച് നില്‍ക്കുന്ന അമൃതകലശ ശാസ്താവ്, നാഗരാജാവ്, നാഗയക്ഷി, ബ്രഹ്മരക്ഷസ് എന്നിവരാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഉപദേവതകള്‍. എല്ലാ വര്‍ഷവും മിഥുന മാസത്തിലെ പുണര്‍തം നക്ഷത്രത്തില്‍ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്ന പ്രതിഷ്ടാ മഹോത്സവം, മീനമാസത്തില്‍ കാര്‍ത്തിക നക്ഷത്രം ദുര്‍ഗ്ഗയ്ക്കും ഭരണി നക്ഷത്രം ഭദ്രകാളിക്കും പ്രധാനമായി 7 ദിവസം നീണ്ടു നില്‍ക്കുന്ന താലപ്പൊലി മഹോത്സവം എന്നിവയാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന വാര്‍ഷികോത്സവങ്ങള്‍.
