About Temple

Pazhangattu Sri Kaleeshwari Temple, fondly known in many names like Vadakkan Chovva, Kalladikkode Neeli, Pazhangattu Kaliyamma etc, situates at a distance of around 20 KMs from Ernakulam Town, in Koduvally Panchayath of Kaitharam. This centuries old temple is owned by Pazhangattu, a renowned Kalari Tharavadu in Paravur area. Here the Moorthi is enshrined in Kannadi Shila inside the Sanctorum, facing the southern part, which has no roof or so. On 3rd of April, 1966 under the auspicious presence of Brahmasrii Vezhapparampu Parameshwaran Namboothirippadu, Ashtabandhakalasham completes. Henceforth, the olden type Pujas everything were stopped. Thereon, new conventional forms of Guruthi etc were coming to being in Sathvika Bhava and Karma. The daily Pujas began with.

Devi was worshiped by the devotes from ancient times, to get back their lost things, to get freed of evil spirits, concerned enemies, to get cure from chronic diseases, to regain heal and physical pleasure, to secure freedom from Sarpadosha etc.etc. To gain back the lost belongings, besides their heart-full prayers before Devi, those were howling together to appease Ovunkal Bhagawathi posited on the northern side of the Srikovil. Other spiritual attractions are the rarest sub-deities like Vettakkaran, Vishnumaya, Sridevi, Rakshas, Nagaraja, Nagayakshi, Sarpasthanams, Ghantakarnan together with Sundarayakshi, Kapalayakshi, Navabhairavas, Veerabhadra, Manikandan, Raktheshwari, Balashastha, Neelavattakadhari, Pathirapanchami, Vellaam Bhagawathi, Kiraatha moorthi, Thwaritha Devi, Vishnu Rohini, Bala Hanuman, Arukola are all consecrated here, following every ceremonials and performances along-with Lord Siva, Goddess Parvathi, Sri Ganesha, Lord Subrahmanya & Sri Dharmashastha.
In ‘Mandalakalam’ which lasts for 41 days, special ‘Mandalam Chirappu’ is performed followed by Guruthi. After this Guruthi, the temple is closed for 7 continuous days. On the 7th day, temple opens and after Punyaha Karmam, the daily Pujas starts again.

എറണാകുളം പട്ടണത്തില്‍ നിന്നും ഏകദേശം 20 കിലോ മീറ്റര്‍ ദൂരത്ത് വടക്കൻ പറവൂരിന് അടുത്ത് കൊടുവള്ളി പഞ്ചായത്തിലെ കൈതാരം ദേശത്താണ് വടക്കൻ ചൊവ്വ, കല്ലടിക്കോട് നീലി, പഴങ്ങാട്ട് കാളിയമ്മ, എന്നീ പല നാമധേയങ്ങളില്‍ പുകഴ്പെറ്റ നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകള്‍ പഴക്കമുള്ള പഴങ്ങാട്ട് ശ്രീ കാളീശരി ക്ഷേത്രം, തെക്കോട്ട് ദര്‍ശനമായി സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. പറവൂർ രാജ്യത്തെ പ്രധാന കളരികളിൽ ഒന്നായിരുന്ന പഴങ്ങാട്ട് കളരികുടുംബം വക ക്ഷേത്രമാണിത്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഉല്പത്തി ഏകദേശം 800 വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുമ്പാണെന്ന് പഴയ ചരിത്ര രേഖകളില്‍ നിന്നും മനസിലാകുന്നു. കേരളത്തില്‍ നിരവധി ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങള്‍ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലും തെക്കോട്ട് ദര്‍ശനം ആയിട്ടുള്ള പ്രതിഷ്ഠകള്‍ വളരെ അപൂര്‍വമാണ്. 1966 ഏപ്രിൽ മൂന്നാം തീയതി ബ്രഹ്മശ്രീ വേഴപ്പറമ്പ് പരമേശ്വരൻ നമ്പൂതിരിപ്പാടിന്‍റെ മുഖ്യ കാർമ്മികത്വത്തിൽ അഷ്ടബന്ധകലശം നിർവഹിക്കുകയും അന്ന് മുതൽ പ്രാചീന രീതിയിലുള്ള കലശപൂജ മുതലായ ക്രിയാദികൾ നിർത്തുകയും സാത്വിക കർമ്മങ്ങളോടുകൂടിയ ഗുരുതിയും നിത്യ പൂജകളും നടത്തി വരുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

പണ്ടുകാലം മുതൽക്കേ കളവുകൾ തെളിയിക്കുന്നതിനും പ്രേത ബാധോപദ്രവങ്ങളും ശത്രുബാധകളും അകറ്റുന്നതിനും, ആദിവ്യാധികൾ പാടെ നശിച്ചു ആയുരാരോഗ്യാദികൾ വർദ്ധിക്കുന്നതിനും, സര്‍പ്പദോഷ നിവാരണത്തിനുമായി നിരവധി ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾ ഭഗവതിയെ ഭജിച്ച് കാര്യസാദ്ധ്യം നേടിയിട്ടുള്ളതുമാണ്. കളവു പോയ വസ്തുക്കൾ കണ്ടുകിട്ടുന്നതിനായി ഭുവനേശ്വരിയുടെ വടക്കുഭാഗത്തുള്ള ഓവിങ്കൽ ഭഗവതിയെ കൂവി വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞാൽ കളവുപോയ വസ്തുക്കൾ തിരികെ കിട്ടുമെന്നും അങ്ങനെ തിരികെ ലഭിക്കുന്ന പക്ഷം തിരികെ ഓവുങ്കൽ വന്ന് കൈകൊട്ടി ആർത്തുചിരിക്കണം എന്നതുമാണ്‌ ആചാരം.

അനേകം അത്യപൂര്‍വങ്ങളായ ഉപദേവതാ പ്രതിഷ്ഠകള്‍ കൊണ്ടും സമ്പന്നമാണ് ക്ഷേത്ര സമുശ്ചയം. ശിവൻ, പാർവതി, ഗണപതി, സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ, ശാസ്താവ്, വേട്ടക്കാരൻ, വിഷ്ണുമായ ,ദേവി, രക്ഷസ്സ്, നാഗരാജ, നാഗയക്ഷി, സര്പ്പസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ, ഘണ്ടാകർണ്ണൻ എന്നിവരോടൊപ്പം സുന്ദരയക്ഷി, കപാലയക്ഷി, നവഭൈരവന്മാർ, വീരഭദ്രൻ, മണികണ്ഠൻ രക്തേശ്വരി , ബാലശാസ്താവ്, നീലവട്ടകധാരി , പാതിരപഞ്ചമി, വെള്ളാംഭഗവതി, കിരാതമൂർത്തി, ത്വരിനാദേവി, വിഷ്ണുരോഹിണി, ബാല ഹനുമാൻ, അറുകൊല തുടങ്ങിയ അപൂര്‍വ്വ ദേവതാ പ്രതിഷ്ഠകളും സ്ഥാപിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ മണ്ഡല കാലത്ത് വിശേഷാൽ ചിറപ്പ് നടത്തിവരുന്നു. മണ്ഡലം 41ന് വിവിധ നടകളില്‍ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്ന ഗുരുതികള്‍ക്ക് ശേഷം 7 ദിവസത്തേക്ക് നട അടച്ചിടുന്നതിനാൽ ദർശന സൗകര്യം ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുന്നതല്ല. ഏഴാമത്തെ ദിവസം നടതുറന്ന് പുണ്യാഹകർമ്മങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തിയതിന് ശേഷം പതിവു പൂജകൾ ആരംഭിക്കും.
