Sreemad Dattathreya Devasthanam, Elamakkara, Ernakulam is known as the first Dattathreya Temple in Kerala. The three “Ävatharas” appearing together as Lords Brahma-Vishnu-Maheswara (Dattathreya) to be one is the importance of this Temple and it is very rare in India too. The Idol of Lord Dethathreya is with three holy heads and six hands holding Thrissoola, Samkh, Gada, Padma, Kamandalu together with four Dogs representing four Vedas and one Cow around represents Bhoomidevi and thus the Devotees worship him as “Balaswaroopan”. Here, the devotees come mainly for the blessings for the newly born babies and also children. They ask for the relief from all issues of entire life. The temple has Sri Ganapathi, Sri Hanuman, Nagadevathas, Vadayakshi-Gandharva as upadevathas. A basil plant (thulasi) and one Simsipa Tree too are worshipped herein with every devotion. Adjacent to the main temple complex, a Sri Subrahmanya Swami kovil was constructed and donated by a devotee in the year 2001. The other sub deities here are Lord Sri Dharmashastha and Goddess Mangala Devi.

There are many important events in the whole year. Annuval festival in the Malayalam month Makaram on Ashwathy star, Mahasivarathri ,Vasanthapuja performing in evening of Vaishkha months, Nagapanchami Puja in the month of Karkkikadam, Dattathreya Jayanathi in Pournami thithi of Maghasheersha month are some of them. The temple can be easily visited by everyone coming to Ernakulam city as it is located in an area very near to the centre of the city. The temple is open for public every day and the visiting timings are 05:00 to 10.00 in the morning and 5:00 to 7.30 in the evening.

മദ്ധ്യ കേരളത്തിലെ എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിലെ കലൂർ-പേരണ്ടൂർ റോഡിൽ കൂടി ഒന്നര കിലോമീറ്റർ യാത്ര ചെയ്താൽ എളമക്കര ദത്തപുരത്ത് കിഴക്കോട്ട് ദർശനമായി കേരളത്തിലെ പ്രഥമ ദത്താത്രേയ ക്ഷേത്രം കാണാം. ബ്രഹ്മാ-വിഷ്ണു-മഹേശ്വരന്മരുടെ ഒന്ന്‍ ചേർന്ന അവതാര രൂപമാണ് ഇവിടുത്തെ ദത്താത്രേയൻ എന്നുള്ളതിനാൽ ശൈവ-വൈഷ്ണവ ഭക്തരുടെ അഭയകേന്ദ്രമാണിത്. തൃമൂർത്തീ ദേവന്മാരുടെ ഈ സംഗമഭൂമി ജീവിതത്തിലെ എല്ലാ ദുഃഖങ്ങൾക്കും നിവാരണദായകനായി വർത്തിക്കുന്നു. സൃഷ്ടി-സ്ഥിതി-സംഹാരമൂർത്തിയായ ദേവൻ മൂന്ന്‍ ശിരസ്സുകളും ആറു കൈകളുമായി അനുഗ്രഹം ചൊരിയുന്നു എന്നതാണ് ഇവിടുത്തെ പ്രത്യേകത. തൃശൂലം, ശംഖ്, ഗദ, പദ്മം, കമണ്ഡലു ഇവയാൽ വിഭൂഷിതനായ ഭഗവാൻ, ചുറ്റും നാല്‍ വേദങ്ങളെ പ്രതിനിധാനം ചെയ്യുന്ന നാല്‍ നായ്ക്കളോടും പിൻഭാഗത്തു ഭൂമീദേവിയെ പ്രതിനിധാനം ചെയ്യുന്ന ഗോമാതാവിനോടും കൂടി പ്രത്യക്ഷനായിരിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ ബാലസ്വരൂപനും സന്താനസൗഭാഗ്യ വരദായകനുമായി ഭക്തർക്ക് അനുഗ്രഹവർഷം ചൊരിയുന്നു. ശ്രീ ഗണപതി, ശ്രീ ഹനുമാന്‍, നാഗദേവതകള്‍, വടയകക്ഷി-ഗന്ധര്‍വന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയ ഉപദേവതകളും ഉചിതമായി രീതിയില്‍ പ്രതിഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ തുളസിയും, ശിംശിപാ വൃക്ഷവും ആരാധ്യമായ രീതിയില്‍ പരിപാലിക്കപ്പെട്ട് വരുന്നു. പ്രധാന ക്ഷേത്രത്തോട് ചേര്‍ന്ന്‍, 2001ല്‍ ഒരു ഭക്തന്‍ നിര്‍മ്മിച്ച് നല്‍കിയ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം കൂടി സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ട്. ശ്രീ ധര്‍മ്മ ശാസ്താവും ശ്രീ മംഗളാദേവിയുമാണ് ഇവിടുത്തെ മറ്റ് ഉപദേവതകള്‍.

തിങ്കൾ, വ്യാഴം, ശനി ദിവസങ്ങൾ ആരാധനയ്ക്ക് വിശേഷമായി കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു.
മകരമാസത്തിലെ അശ്വതി നാളിൽ നടക്കുന്ന വാർഷിക മഹോത്സവം, മഹാശിവരാത്രി, വൈശാഖ മാസങ്ങളിലെ സന്ധ്യകളില്‍ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്ന വസന്തപൂജ, കർക്കിടക മാസത്തിൽ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്ന സർപ്പപ്രീതിക്കായുള്ള നാഗപഞ്ചമി പൂജയും ആഘോഷവും, മാഘശീർഷ മാസത്തിലെ പൗർണ്ണമി തിഥിയില്‍ ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ദത്താത്രേയജയന്തി എന്നിവയാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാനമായ ആഘോഷങ്ങള്‍. എറണാകുളം പട്ടണത്തില്‍ തന്നെ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നതിനാല്‍ ശ്രീമദ് ദത്താത്രേയ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്ക് വളരെ എളുപ്പത്തില്‍ എത്തിച്ചേരാവുന്നതാണ്. എല്ലാ ദിവസവും രാവിലെ 05:00 മുതല്‍ 10.00 വരെയും വൈകിട്ട് 05:00 മുതല്‍ 07:30 വരെയുമാണ് ക്ഷേത്ര ദര്‍ശന സമയം.
