Tiruttani constitutes one of the six Padai Veedu (One of six abodes) shrines of Skanda (Lord Subrahmaanya or Murugan), and it represents the site where Subrahmanya stayed after destroying the demon Surapadman. It is said to be the place where the Lord Subrahmanya married Valli - one of his two consorts. The Beautiful temple of Lord Muruga at Tiruttani crowns a single rock 700 feet above sea level. It is situated amidst a range of hills with a dramatic panoramic view.
Srikalahasti Temple is located in the state of Andra Pradesh situated 36 km away from Tirupati. It is one of the most famous Shiva temples in South India for its Vayu Linga, one of the Panchabhoota Sthalams, representing Wind or Air element. The temple was constructed around the 5th century and the outer temple was constructed in the 12th century by the Chola kings and the Vijayanagara kings.
