Shakatapuram Maha Samsthanam is located in the Koppa taluk in Karnataka State. This Maha Samsthanam is also on the banks of Tunga River like the famous Sringeri Maha Samsthanam. Shakatapuram is also known by the name Bhandigadi.
The Guruparampara of Shakatapuram Maha Samsthanam traces its origins to Sri Thotakacharya, the disciple of Sri Adi Shankaracharya, the proponent of Advaita Siddhanta.
The large temple complex has the presiding deities of Srividya Rajarajeswari, Sri Santana Venugopala Krishna, Sri Lakshminarasimha, apart from the idol of Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada and Adhishtanams of previous Acharyas (Pontiffs).
