Mattalil Bhagawathi Temple, is a prominent one in the mid part of Ernakulam City, very near to Kadavanthra junction. From the junction, a short travel of 200 meters takes the visitor near Devi Adiparashakthi. Devi Adiparashakthi, in Bhadrakali bhava is pleasant in gifting her devotees their all desires, thus Sarvabheeshapradhayini the deity herein. The people rush unto here, put forth their prayers before for a happy married life, smart offsprings, to get remedy from sorrows and grievances. Irrelevant of religion, cast or so, the devotees are present here and prostrate unto the footsteps of Adiparashakthi for boons and gains. On May 25th in the year 2015, on Makam star day, Dr. Kaarumathra Vijayan, ‘Kshethra Acharyan’, was consecrating the Idol of Devi in ‘Panchaloham’. Sub deities Lord Sri Ganapathi, Lord Sri Ayyappan, Lord Sri Murukan, Sri Gantakaranan too were also enshrined on the same day. Sri Narayana Gurudevan is also in the idolized form in the temple complex. A 5 day annual festival beginning with chathayam star day in Kumbham and finishes on the next Aswathi day is well celebrated.
എറണാകുളം നഗരത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ആരാധനാലയങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് കടവന്ത്ര മട്ടലിൽ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം. കടവന്ത്ര ജങ്ക്ഷന് സമീപം 200 മീറ്റര്‍ തെക്ക് മാറി കെപി വള്ളോന്‍ റോഡിലാണ് ക്ഷേത്ര സ്ഥാനം. സർവാഭീഷ്ടപ്രദായനിയായ ഭദ്രകാളിയാണ് പ്രതിഷ്ഠാമൂർത്തി. മംഗല്യസിദ്ധിക്കും, സന്താന സൗഭാഗ്യത്തിനും സങ്കടനിവാരണത്തിനുമായി ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾ തിരുമുൻപിൽ വന്നു പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുന്നു. ജാതിമതഭേദ ചിന്തകളില്ലാതെ സര്‍വ്വ മതസ്ഥരും ഇവിടെ ആദിപരാശക്തിയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹം തേടിയെത്തുന്നത് പതിവാണ്. 2015 മേയ് 25-ന് (മകം നാളില്‍) ക്ഷേത്ര ആചാര്യന്‍ ഡോ. കാരുമാത്ര വിജയന്‍ തന്ത്രി, ദേവിയുടെ പഞ്ചലോഹ വിഗ്രഹ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയും ശ്രീ ഗണപതി, ശ്രീ അയ്യപ്പന്‍, ശ്രീ മുരുകന്‍, ശ്രീ ഘണ്ഠാകര്‍ണന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയ ഉപദേവതാ പ്രതിഷ്ഠകളും നടത്തി. ഗുരുദേവ ക്ഷേത്രവും ഈ ക്ഷേത്ര സമുശ്ചയത്തില്‍ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു. അഞ്ച് ദിവസം നീണ്ടു നില്‍ക്കുന്ന വാര്‍ഷിക മഹോത്സവം എല്ലാ വര്‍ഷവും കുംഭ മാസത്തിലെ ചതയം നാളില്‍ ആരംഭിച്ച് അശ്വതി നാളില്‍ അവസാനിക്കുന്നു.
