Sri Lakshmi Janardhana Swamy temple has been constructed on a sprawling two-acre plot in Mandya which is about 48 Kms from the heritage capital of Karnataka, Mysuru and about 100 Kms from the capital of Karnataka, Bengaluru. This temple is stated to be over a thousand years old. A Rajagopura has been built for the temple. The temple has many sections like Vimanagopura, Garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum), Sukhanasi, Navaranga etc. A stone idol of elephant, which was the royal emblem of the Gangas, has been installed in front of the temple. Devotees believe that childless couple who offer worship to Goddess Lakshmi consecrated in this temple will beget children.
ಶ್ರೀ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ ಜನಾರ್ದನಸ್ವಾಮಿ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಮೈಸೂರಿನಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 48 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ಹಾಗೂ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 100 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ದೂರವಿರುವ ಸಕ್ಕರೆನಾಡಾದ ಮಂಡ್ಯನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ, ಎರಡು ಎಕರೆಯಷ್ಟು ವಿಶಾಲವಾದ ಸ್ಥಳವೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ಒಂದು ಸಹಸ್ರ ವರ್ಷಗಳಷ್ಟು ಹಳೆಯದೆಂಬ ಪ್ರತೀತಿ ಇದೆ. ಈ ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ದೇವಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜಗೋಪುರವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ವಿಮಾನಗೋಪುರ, ಗರ್ಭಗೃಹ, ಸುಖನಾಸಿ, ನವರಂಗವೆಂಬ ವಿವಿಧ ವಿಭಾಗಗಳಿವೆ. ಗಂಗವಂಶದ ದೊರೆಗಳು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ರಾಜಲಾಂಛನವಾದ ಗಜವೊಂದನ್ನು ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಹೊರಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಬಹುದಾಗಿದೆ.ಸಂತಾನವಂಚಿತ ದಂಪತಿಗಳು ಶ್ರೀ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ ಜನಾರ್ದನಸ್ವಾಮಿಯ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಸಂತಾನಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಿಯಾಗುವುದೆಂದು ಗಾಢನಂಬಿಕೆ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿದೆ.
