The known history of this Temple is that the deity is gifted by the Almighty on long meditation to a "Thapaswi" (sage) of Marangatta Mana (A Kerala Brahmin-Namboothiri-House) and then installed by him in"Threthayuga" (An ancient period of Indian Mythology). The Ooranma (Ownership as per tradition and religious custom) and responsibility of daily Poojas rests with Marangattu Mana. The deity of Soorya Deva (Sun God) is installed in somany Temples of India accompanied by " Navagrahas " ( Nine Planet Godes) and in this Temple, the deity of Soorya Deva (Sun God) alone is installed as the main deity seems very rare and more powerful - witness the experience of devotees. Another belief remains that the deity sustains in an accompanied presence of all "Devathas" (Goddesses) on day time and this extreme power is gifted by the Almighty of Universe to Lord Adithya (God Sun) on his long time meditation.
