The temple is believed to have constructed beyond far memory. At a recent period it was coming under the rule of ‘Edappally Swaroopam’. In 1962 again the temple was handed over to Perumbalam Sri Krishna Swami Temple Devaswom Trust. Now everything goes well. It is well believed by the people, at the time of ‘Pantheeradi Pooja’ , the ‘Kannan’ of Ambalappuzha of real Guruvayoorappan are present inside the sanctum – sanctorum. Beyond the historical periods, the temple was constructed by the ruling families of the then period. Sakshal Vilwamangalam Swamiyar was bringing in the idol of Bhaghavan from Ambalappuzha and He was performing the enshrinement everything is a belief is printed in the devotee minds. ചരിത്രാധീത കാലത്ത് പണികഴിപ്പിച്ച ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്‍റെ പഴക്കം നിര്‍ണ യിച്ചിട്ടില്ല എങ്കിലും, സമീപകാലത്ത് ഇടപ്പിള്ളി സ്വരൂപത്തിന്റെ അധീനതയിലായിരുന്നു. 1962 ല്‍ പെരുമ്പളം ശ്രീകൃഷണസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം ദേവസ്വം ട്രസ്റ്റ്‌ന് കൈമാറുകയും, പൂര്‍വാധികം ഭംഗിയായി ക്ഷേത്രകാര്യങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തിവരുന്നു. ശ്രീ ഗുരുവയൂരപ്പന്‍റെയും, അമ്പലപ്പുഴ കണ്ണന്‍റെയും സാനിധ്യം എന്നും പന്തീരടിപൂജ സമയത്ത് ഉണ്ടാകുമെന്നാണ് വിശ്വാസം. ചരിത്രാതിത കാലത്ത്, അന്ന് നിലവിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന കുടുംബക്കാര്‍ ചേര്‍ന്ന് നിര്‍മ്മി ച്ച ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് എന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. വില്വമംഗലം സ്വാമിമാരാണ് അമ്പലപ്പുഴയില്‍ നിന്നും ഭഗവാന്‍റെ വിഗ്രഹം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ചടങ്ങുകള്‍ നടത്തിയാതെന്നും പറയപ്പെടുന്നു.
