A very ancient temple of more than 1000 years of history. Temple was owned by a person called ‘Chendan’ and his family, hence the temple was named Chendankulangara. There is a big pond, in front of the temple situated in almost 80 cents of land, which means ‘Kulam’ in Malayalam language. Joined together with Chennan to name the temple ‘Chennankulangara’. This temple was later taken over by Edappally Palace [ Swaroopam ] and now taken care by Kerala Kshethra Samrakshana Samithi, by forming a local committee to administer the day to day functions. ആയിരത്തിലധികം വര്‍ഷം പഴക്കമുള്ള പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ചേന്നന്‍കുളങ്ങര ശ്രീകൃഷ്‌ണസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം.‘ചേന്നന്‍’ എന്നയാളുടെ ഉടമ സ്ഥതയില്‍ ആയിരുന്നു പ്രസ്തുത ക്ഷേത്രം. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനുമുമ്പില്‍ ഉണ്ടാ യിരുന്ന വലിയൊരു കുളവും ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്‍റെ പേരും ചേര്‍ന്ന് ജനങ്ങള്‍ ചേന്നന്‍കുളങ്ങര എന്ന് വിളിച്ചുപോന്നു. പിന്നീട് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഇടപ്പള്ളി കൊട്ടാരത്തിന്‍റെ അധീനതയിലായി. ഇപ്പോള്‍ കേരള ക്ഷേത്രസംരക്ഷണസമിതി യുടെ ഭരണത്തിന്‍ കീഴിലാണ് ചേന്നന്‍കുളങ്ങര ശ്രീകൃഷണസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം.
