Devotionally many interesting events and stories are appearing in the history of the temple. Once, Sage Gauna was in a ‘deep penance’. Lord Siva, was highly appeased with the severe austerity of the Sage, showered his blessings on the hermit. Lord Siva presented an idol of Sri Subrahamanya to the sage for the ever betterment of the whole world. The sage was pleased with it and began a spiritual life in Sahyadri, invoking Lord Subrahmanya. Triumphant Lord Sri Rama with others after slaying Ravana, would visit the Gauna Ashramam, the Rishi had an expectation. Towards, he had collected holy water in his Kamandalu. As it was going far late, the sage got angry and a ‘smash’ by him on the Kamandalu took the whole water outside. Together with the holy water, a splendor of Lord Subrahmanya too was. The holy water was conjoining to be a river, and it in its flow reached the place where in a Vishnu temple was situating. A newly constructed shrine was there, ready for idolising Lord Vishnu the next day. At the time of the installation ceremony, the presence of Lord Subrahmanya was convinced by many around. Then a new Srikovil was constructed on the southern side of the Vishnu Temple and Lord Subrahmanya was taken to get seated inside. രസകരവും ഭക്തിസാന്ദ്രവുമായ കഥകളില്‍ അധിഷ്ടിതമായ ഒന്നിലധികം ഐതീഹ്യങ്ങള്‍ ക്ഷേത്രവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് പറഞ്ഞു വരുന്നുണ്ട്. അതില്‍ പ്രശസ്തമായത്‌ ഇങ്ങനെ: ഗൌണ മഹര്‍ഷിയുടെ കഠിന തപസില്‍ സംപ്രീതനായ പരമശിവന്‍ സമസ്ത ലോകത്തിന്‍റെയും ഐശ്വര്യത്തിനായി ഒരു സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ വിഗ്രഹം നല്‍കി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു. സന്തുഷ്ടനായ മഹര്‍ഷി സഹ്യസാനുക്കളില്‍ താമസിച്ച് സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യനെ പൂജിച്ച് തുടങ്ങി. രാവണനിഗ്രഹത്തിന് ശേഷം വിജയശ്രീലാളിതനായ ശ്രീരാമന്‍ അയോദ്ധ്യ യാത്രാമധ്യേ തന്റെ ആശ്രമത്തില്‍ എത്തുമെന്ന്‍ കരുതിയ ഗൌണ മഹര്‍ഷി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ആദരിക്കുന്നതിനായി തന്റെ കമണ്ഡലുവില്‍ തീര്‍ത്ഥം നിറച്ച് കാത്തിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ശ്രീരാമനെ കാണായ്കയാല്‍ കോപിഷ്ഠനായ മഹര്‍ഷി തന്റെ കമണ്ഡലു തട്ടിമറിക്കുകയും അതില്‍ നിന്നും തീര്‍ത്ഥമൊഴുകി നദിയായി പരിണമിച്ച് സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ തേജസിനൊപ്പം ഇവിടെ എത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഇവിടെ അന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്ന മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ വിഷ്ണുവിന് വേണ്ടി ഒരു പുതിയ ശ്രീകോവില്‍ പണി കഴിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു. പിറ്റേ ദിവസം പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടക്കേണ്ട ഇവിടെ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ സാന്നിദ്ധ്യം തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞതിന്‍ പ്രകാരം, വിധിയാം വണ്ണം മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിനായി പണി കഴിപ്പിച്ച ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് തെക്ക് ഭാഗത്തായി പുതി ശ്രീകോവില്‍ പണിത് അവിടെ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ കൂടി നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.
