A temple old for 130 years, where in Lord Subramanya is the deity. ‘Oorakkad’ , a place bearing this name in olden times, was under Akavoor Mana. The head [ Karanavar ] of the Mana, Sri Neelandan Eacharen, who was a great worshipper of Lord Subramanya and His Guru, who was a sage himself were together going to deep salutations and adorations on Lord Muruga at Palani, could bring in the ardent brightness of Sri Subramanya to this place. The idol after every conventional poojas and offerings was consecrated herein. For more surprise, a Yogee appeared suddenly at the right time of Muhurth, was performing the installation ceremony. In no time, that Yogee vanished, none could see him after. It was the splendor of Parameswara himself, it is believed by the people and devotees of the temple. The sub deities are Lord Ganesha, Dharma Shastha and Goddess Durga. Hidumba, enshrined inside the temple is counted to be swayambhoo. ഏകദേശം 130 വര്‍ഷം പഴക്കമുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രമാണിത്. ആ സമയത്ത് അകവൂര്‍മനയുടെ കീഴിലായിരുന്ന ‘ഊരക്കാട്’ എന്ന ഈ പ്രദേശം. സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ ഉപാസനായിരുന്ന നീലകണ്ഠന്‍ ഈച്ചരന്‍ എന്ന കാരണവരും, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഗുരുവായിരുന്ന സന്യാസി യും കൂടി പഴനിയില്‍ നിന്നും ഉപാസിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവന്ന ചൈതന്യമാണ് ഇവിടുത്തെ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യസ്വാമിയുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. കടുത്ത സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ ഭക്തനായിരുന്ന ഈ കാരണവര്‍ പഴനിയില്‍ നിന്നും പൂജിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവന്ന വിഗ്രഹമാണ്‌ ഇവിടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തുവാ നായി കൊണ്ടുവന്നത്. പ്രതിഷ്ഠ മുഹൂര്‍ത്തത്തില്‍ പെട്ടെന്നൊരു യോഗീശ്വരന്‍ പ്രത്യക്ഷ നായി. അദ്ദേഹമാണ് പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തിയത്. പ്രതിഷ്ഠകര്‍മ്മം നടത്തിയ ശേഷം അദ്ദേ ഹത്തെ പിന്നീടാരും കണ്ടില്ല. ശ്രീ പരമേശ്വര ചൈതന്യമായിരുന്നു ആ യോഗീശ്വരന്‍ എന്നാണ് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്. പിന്നീട് ഉപദേവതകളായി ഗണപതി, ശാസ്താവ്, ദുര്‍ഗാ എന്നീ ദേവന്മാരേയും പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഹിഡുംബന്‍ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ സ്വയംഭൂവായ ചൈതന്യമാണ്.
