As per temple’s background, freedom fighter Mr. Subba Rao Gaekwad & Mr. Shama Rao Scindia were prompted to build a temple for this Goddess and consequently in the year 1960, built a small temple in Gavipuram Extension located next to Kempambudhi lake. Also, a Kannada Primary School was started next to the temple premises. As per the sourced information, the then Chief Minister Mr. Devaraj Urs granted one acre of land to this temple. A statue made out of cluster fig tree was consecrated by Sri Lavanga Bharathi Swamiji. From then, all religious and cultural activities are being conducted. ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಹಿನ್ನಲೆ ಈ ರೀತಿ ಇದೆ. ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ ಹೋರಾಟಗಾರ, ಕಟ್ಟಾ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ಸಿನ ಸುಬ್ಬರಾವ್ ಗಾಯಕ್ವಾಡ್, ಶ್ಯಾಮರಾವ್ ಸಿಂಧ್ಯಾ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಗವಿಪುರದಲ್ಲಿ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳಿಗೆ ದೇವಿಗೊಂದು ಗುಡಿಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆ ಉಂಟಾದ ಹಿನ್ನಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, 1960ರಲ್ಲಿ ಗವಿಪುರ ಕೆಂಪಾಂಬುಧಿ ಕೆರೆ ಪಕ್ಕದ ಬಡಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂಬಾ ಭವಾನಿಯ ಪುಟ್ಟ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಹಾಗು ಜ್ಞಾನಾರ್ಜನೆಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಮಿಕ ಶಾಲೆಯನ್ನು ಆರಂಭಿಸಲಾಯಿತು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಯಪಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಂದಿನ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದ ದೇವರಾಜ ಅರಸುಗಳು ದೇವಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದು ಎಕರೆ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಮಂಜೂರು ಮಾಡಿಸಿದರೆಂಬ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಇದೆ. ಗೋಸಾಯಿ ಮಠದ ಶ್ರೀ ಲವಂಗ ಭಾರತೀ ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿಯವರಿಂದ ಔದುಂಬರ ಮರದ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಾಣಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾಪನೆ ಮಾಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ, ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ, ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಚಟಿವಟಿಕೆಗಳು ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಬರುತ್ತದೆ.

The temple’s renovation work was taken up during 1993. A Krishnashila idol measuring 9 feet with eight hands of Goddess Sri Amba Bhavani was consecrated in the presence of Pejawara Shree, Adichunchanagiri Shree & other yatis. Along with this, kalasha was also placed on rajagopura. ಸುಮಾರು 1993ರಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಜೀರ್ಣೋದ್ಧಾರ ಕಲಾಪಗಳು ನೆರವೇರಿದ್ದು, ಪೇಜಾವರ ಶ್ರೀಪಾದರ, ಆದಿಚುಂಚನಗಿರಿ ಶ್ರೀಗಳವರು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಪಂಚ ಯತಿಗಳ ಸಮ್ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಅಂಬಾ ಭವಾನಿಯ 9ಅಡಿ ಎತ್ತರದ, ಎಂಟು ಕೈಗಳುಳ್ಳ ಕೃಷ್ಣಶಿಲಾ ವಿಗ್ರಹದ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾಪನೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇದರ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ ಗೋಪುರಕ್ಕೂ ಕಲಶ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾಪನೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.
