The historical significance of the Yadugiri Yathiraja Mutt is its association with the 12th century saint-reformer, Sri Ramanujacharya. Yadugiri Yathiraja Mutt is the only original Mutt of Melkote which exists from the time of Sri Ramanujacharya. It was started by the saint-reformer, Sri Ramanujacharya, for providing services to the devotees and visitors and monitoring the affairs of the temple of Sri Tirunarayana. According to the legend, Sri Ramanujacharya founded the Mutt as per the commands of his Guru, chiefly, Sri Alavandar (Yamunacharya). It is indeed a matter of pride for the Mutt that it has a direct lineage from Sri Ramanujacharya himself. The Mutt from the time of Sri Ramanujacharya has got an illuminating and splendid history. The Mutt which is in existence since 1000 years has given extraordinary Philosophers, thinkers and Spiritualists to the society. ಶ್ರೀ ಯದುಗಿರಿ ಯತಿರಾಜ ಮಠವನ್ನು ಕ್ರಿ.ಶ. ಹನ್ನೆರಡನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟಾದ್ವೈತ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾಪಿಸಿದ ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಮೇಲುಕೋಟೆ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತಿರುನಾರಾಯಣಪುರವೆಂಬ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ತಂಗಿದ್ದಾಗಲೇ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ಮಠವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸುವ ಮೂಲ ಉದ್ದೇಶವೆಂದರೆ ತಿರುನಾರಾಯಣಪುರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ವೈಭವೋಪೇತ ಶ್ರೀತಿರುನಾರಾಯಣ ದೇಗುಲದ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಹಾಗೂ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟಾದ್ವೈತ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಚಾರಗೊಳಿಸುವುದಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರೇ ಶ್ರೀ ಯದುಗಿರಿ ಯತಿರಾಜ ಮಠದ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಪೀಠಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದುದು ನಮಗೆ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ವಿಷಯ. ಶ್ರೀ ಮಠವು ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾನುಜ ದರ್ಶನದ ಕಾಲದಿಂದ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿ ಇಂದಿನವರೆಗೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ವೈಭವೋಪೇತ ಹಾಗೂ ವೈಶಿಷ್ಟ್ಯಪೂರ್ಣವಾದ ಇತಿಹಾಸವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಒಂದು ಸಹಸ್ರ ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಅಸ್ಥಿತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಶ್ರೀಮಠವು ಹಲವಾರು ಉತ್ಕೃಷ್ಟ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳನ್ನು, ವಾಚಸ್ಪತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಗೂ ಪವಾಡಪುರುಷರನ್ನು ಕಂಡಿದ್ದು, ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಶ್ರೀಮಠದ ಸರ್ವಾಂಗೀಣ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಶೇಷತೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

Nammalvar is one of the twelve alwar saints of Tamil Nadu, India, who are known for their affiliation to the Vaishnava tradition of Hinduism. The verses of alwars are compiled as Nalayira Divya Prabandham and the 108 temples revered are classified as Divya Desam. Nammalvar is considered the fifth in the line of the twelve alwars. He is highly regarded as a great mystic of the Vaishnava tradition. He is also considered the greatest among the twelve alwars and his contributions amount to 1352 among the 4000 stanzas in the Nalayira Divya Prabandam. ನಮ್ಮಾಳ್ವಾರರು ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಆಳ್ವಾಸಂತರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆಳ್ವಾಸಂತರು ಹಿಂದೂಧರ್ಮದ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟಾದ್ವೈತ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತದ ಅನುಯಾಯಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆಳ್ವಾರರು ರಚಿಸಿರುವ ಕಾವ್ಯ ಅಥವಾ ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳನ್ನು “ನಳಾಯಿರ ದಿವ್ಯ ಪ್ರಬಂಧಮ್” ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಪವಿತ್ರ 108 ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನಗಳನ್ನು ದಿವ್ಯ ದೇಶಂ ಎಂದು ಗುರುತಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ನಮ್ಮಾಳ್ವಾರರು ಆಳ್ವಾಸಂತ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಐದನೇ ಸಂತರೆಂದು ಗುರುತಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟೀದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರನ್ನು ವೈಷ್ಣವ ಪಂಥೀಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಮಹಿಮಾನ್ವಿತರೆಂದು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಆಳ್ವಾಸಂತರ ಪೈಕಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾನ್ವಿತರು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಸಂತರೆಂದೂ ಗುರುತಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ನಳಾಯಿರಾ ದಿವ್ಯ ಪ್ರಬಂಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಆಳ್ವಾಸಂತರ 4000 ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮಾಳ್ವಾರರ ಕಾಣಿಕೆ 1352 ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳು.

Manavala Mamunigal (1370–1443) was a Hindu Sri Vaishnava religious leader, who during the 15th century in Tamil Nadu, with the help of his eight disciples helped spread Sri Vaishnavism. The disciples of Mamunigal established places of learning to teach Sri Vaishnavite Vishishtadvaita philosophy in Tamil Nadu. ಹದಿನೈದನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಉದಿಸಿದ ಮನವಾಳ ಮಾಮುನಿಗಳು (1370–1443) ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಭಾವೀ ಧರ್ಮಗುರುಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಇವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಎಂಟು ಶಿಷ್ಯರ ಸಹಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟಾದ್ವೈತದ ಪ್ರಚಾರ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಅದ್ಭುತವಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದರು. ಮಾಮುನಿಗಳ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟಾದ್ವೈತವನ್ನು ಬೋಧಿಸುವ ಹಲವು ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದರು.

Ramanuja (traditionally, 1017–1137 CE) was a Hindu theologian, philosopher, and one of the most important exponent of the Sri Vaishnavism tradition within Hinduism. He was born in a Tamil Brahmin family in the village of Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. His philosophical foundations for devotionalism were influential to the Bhakti movement. Ramanuja's guru was Yadava Prakasha, a scholar who was part of the more ancient Advaita Vedanta monastic tradition. Sri Vaishnava tradition holds that Ramanuja disagreed with his guru and the non-dualistic Advaita Vedanta, and instead followed in the footsteps of Indian Alvars tradition, the scholars Nathamuni and Yamunacharya. Ramanuja is famous as the chief proponent ofVishishtadvaita subschool of Vedanta,and his disciples were likely authors of texts such as the Shatyayaniya Upanishad.Ramanujan himself wrote influential texts, such as bhasya on the Brahma Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita, all in Sanskrit. ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮಾನುಜರು (ಪಾರಂಪರಿಕ ಪಂಚಾಂಗರೀತ್ಯಾ 1017–1137ರ ವರೆಗೆ) ಒಬ್ಬ ಧೀಮಂತ ಹಿಂದೂ ಧರ್ಮದ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಕರೂ, ದಾರ್ಶನಿಕರೂ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಚಾರಶೀಲ ಪ್ರಚಾರಕರೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ಹಿಂದೂ ಧರ್ಮದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಸೈಂದ್ಧಾಂತಿಕ ಉಪಾದಿಯಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟಾದ್ವೈತ ಪಂಥದ ಅನುಯಾಯಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾನುಜರು ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನ ಶ್ರೀಪೆರಂಬೂರು ಎಂಬ ಸಣ್ಣ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಓರ್ವ ಅದ್ವೈತಿ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ನೆಲೆಗಟ್ಟುಗಳು ಅಂದಿನ ಭಕ್ತಿ ಆಂದೋಲನದ ಮೇಲೆ ತೀವ್ರ ಪರಿಣಾಮವನ್ನು ಬೀರಿತ್ತು. ರಾಮಾನುಜರ ಗುರುಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದ ಯಾದವ ಪ್ರಕಾಶರು ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಅದ್ವೈತ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತದ ಅನುಯಾಯಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಲಭ್ಯವಿರುವ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾನುಜರು ಅವರ ಗುರುಗಳು ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅದ್ವೈತ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತವನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಗಳೆದರು. ಅದ್ವೈತ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತವು ಪ್ರಚುರ ಪಡಿಸಿದ ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ದೈವವೆಂಬ ತತ್ವವನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪದ ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾನುಜರು, ಆಳ್ವಾಸಂತರು ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸಿದ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಮತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾನುಜರ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಬೀರಿದ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರಂದರೆ ನಾಥಮುನಿ ಮತ್ತು ಯಮುನಾಚಾರ್ಯರು. ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾನುಜರು ವೇದಾಂತದ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟಾದ್ವೈತ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತದ ಸ್ಥಾಪನಾಚಾರ್ಯರೆಂದು ಗುರುತಿಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಶಿಷ್ಯರುಗಳು ಶಾತ್ಯಾಯನೀಯ ಉಪನಿಷದ್ ರಚಿಸಿದರೆಂದು ನಂಬಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾನುಜರು ಸ್ವತಃ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಸೂತ್ರ ಭಾಷ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಭಗವದ್ಗೀತೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಭಾಷ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತದಲ್ಲಿ ರಚಿಸಿದರು.

Thereby he has become an institution by himself. ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಯದುಗಿರಿ ಯತಿರಾಜ ನಾರಾಯಣ ರಾಮಾನುಜ ಜೀಯರ್ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ದಿನಾಂಕ ನವೆಂಬರ್ 25, 2004 ರಿಂದ ಶ್ರೀಮಠದ ಪೀಠವನ್ನು ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಿರುವರು. ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಯದುಗಿರಿ ಯತಿರಾಜ ನಾರಾಯಣ ರಾಮಾನುಜ ಜೀಯರ್ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಶ್ರೀಮಠದ ಭವ್ಯ ಪರಂಪರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಲವತ್ತೊಂದನೇ ಪೀಠಧಿಪತಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ತಾವು ಶ್ರೀಮಠದ ಪೀಠವನ್ನು ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಿದಂದಿನಿಂದ ಹಲವು ಉತ್ತಮ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಂಡು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸುವ ದಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಾವು ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಶ್ರೀ ಯದುಗಿರಿ ಯತಿರಾಜ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ನಿಸ್ವಾರ್ಥ ಸೇವೆಗೆ ಪರ್ಯಾಯ ಪದವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ಸೈದ್ಧಾಂತಿಕ ನೆಲೆಗಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಬೆಳೆದು ಬಂದ ಶ್ರೀ ಯತಿಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಬಾಲ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಸಮಾಜಸೇವಾ ಕೈಂಕರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ಇಂದಿನವರೆಗೂ ಶ್ರೀ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ನೋಡಿಲ್ಲ. ತಮ್ಮ ಹಸನ್ಮುಖಭಾವ ಹಾಗೂ ಸನ್ಯಾಸಿಯ ವಸ್ತ್ರಧಾರಣೆಗಳಿಂದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಥಮ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿಯಾಗುವ ಯರನ್ನಾದರೂ ಪ್ರಭಾವಗೊಳಿಸುವರು. ಸರಳತೆಯೇ ಅವರ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದು, ತಮ್ಮ ಸಹಚರರ ಸಂತೃಪ್ತಿಯು ಅವರ ರಾತ್ರಿಯ ಆಹಾರವಾಗಿದೆ. ಬಡಬಗ್ಗರನ್ನು ತೃಪ್ತಿಗೊಳಿಸುವುದು ಅವರ ಆಸ್ತಿ. ಶ್ರೀಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಇಂದಿನ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸುವವರಾಗಿದ್ದು, ತಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲರೊಡನೆ ಆತ್ಮೀಯವಾಗಿ ಬೆರೆಯುವರು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದಲೇ ಶ್ರೀ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ರಾರಾಜಿಸುವರು. ಅವರು ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲ ಹಂತಗಳಿಗೂ ಸರಿಯಾಗುವಂತಹ ಕೊಡುಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕೇವಲ ದೇವನ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಗೆ ಸೀಮಿತವಾಗಿರದೆ, ಶ್ರೀಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲು ತಮ್ಮ ಛಾಪನ್ನು ಮೂಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಸಂಗೀತ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ, ಔಶದೋಪಚಾರವೇ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಕೊಡುಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ, ಶ್ರೀ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಮಾನವೀಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಮೆರೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಮೂಲಕ ಶ್ರೀಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಸ್ವತಃ ಒಂದು ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನವಾಗಿ ಹೊರಹೊಮ್ಮಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
