To quench the thirst of one of his aged disciples "Sree Gosala Sidheshwara", hit the rock and a stream of water came out of that rock. The holy water was named as "Siddaganga" and the name was thus given to this place. ಈ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಿಂದ 8 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಸಿದ್ದಗಂಗಾ ಮಠ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ತುಮಕೂರು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಈ ಮಠದ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಸುಮಾರು 14ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದ್ದಿರಬಹುದು. ತೋಂಟದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸಿದ್ದಲಿಂಗೇಶ್ವರರು ಈ ಮಠವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದರು. ತಮ್ಮ ಶಿಷ್ಯರೊಬ್ಬರ ಬಾಯಾರಿಕೆ ತಣಿಸಲು ಸಿದ್ಧಲಿಂಗೇಶ್ವರರು ಆ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿನ ಕಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೊಡೆದು ನೀರು ಬರುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರತೀತಿ ಇದ್ದು ಈ ನೀರನ್ನು 'ಸಿದ್ದಗಂಗಾ' ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ತದನಂತರ ಈ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.
