Sri Kanteshwara temple is at Nanjangud in Mysuru district of Karnataka. Nanjangud, an ancient pilgrimage center. Situated on the banks of Kapila or Kabini river, Srikanteshwara temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is also called as Nanjundeshwara and Vishkanta. Nanjunda means one who consumed poison. Nanjunda came to be known as Visha Kanta and Srikanta for having digested the venom. Srikanteshwara, is believed to cure all diseases. ಶ್ರೀ ನಂಜುಂಡೇಶ್ವರನೆಂದೇ ಖ್ಯಾತಿ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀಕಂಠೇಶ್ವಸ್ವಾಮಿಯ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳಲ್ಲೊಂದಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ಕಪಿಲಾ ನದಿಯ ದಡದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಶಿವನಿಗೆ ನಂಜುಂಡ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಷಕಂಠನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಗಳೂ ಇವೆ. ನಂಜುಂಡ ಎಂದರೆ ನಂಜು ಅಥವಾ ಹಾಲಾಹಲವನ್ನು ಉಂಡವ, ಎಂದರೆ ಶಿವನೆಂದು ಅರ್ಥವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ವಿಷವನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದು ಅರಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಶ್ರೀಕಂಠ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಷಕಂಠ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಗಳು ಬಂದವು. ಶ್ರೀಕಂಠೇಶ್ವರನು ಎಲ್ಲ ರೋಗಗಳ ವೈದ್ಯನೆಂದು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ದಿ ಇದೆ.

Sri Chamundeshwari Temple at the top of Chamundi Hill, which is about 13 km away from Mysuru, has great historical relevance and puranic background. The temple enjoys the patronage of the Wadeyars’ family, the erstwhile rulers of the Mysore province. The sitting deity, Sri Chamundeswari, is considered to be the fierce or ferocious form of Durga Devi, which she assumed for slaying the demons Chanda and Munda and Mahishasura, the buffalo-headed demon. ಮೈಸೂರುನಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 13ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ಸಮೀಪವಿರುವ ಚಾಮುಂಡಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಚಾಮುಂಡೇಶ್ವರಿ ದೇವಾಲಯವಿದೆ. ಶ್ರೀ ಚಾಮುಂಡೇಶ್ವರಿ ದೇವಿಯು ದುರ್ಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಶಕ್ತಿ ದೇವತೆಗಳ ಸ್ವರೂಪಿಣಿಯೆಂದು ಪುರಾಣಗಳಿಂದ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಶ್ರೀ ಚಾಮುಂಡೇಶ್ವರಿಯು ಚಂಡ-ಮುಂಡರೆಂಬ ದಾನವರನ್ನು ಹಾಗೂ ಮಹಿಷಾಸುರರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸುವ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ ದುರ್ಗಾದೇವಿಯ ರೂಪವನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿದಳೆಂದು ಪುರಾಣಗಳು ಹೇಳುತ್ತವೆ.

The Palace of Mysore is a historical palace in the city of Mysore in Karnataka, southern India. It is the official residence and seat of the Wodeyars — the rulers of Mysore, the royal family of Mysore, who ruled the princely state from 1399 to 1950. The palace houses two durbar halls (ceremonial meeting halls of the royal court) and incorporates an array of courtyards, gardens, and buildings. The palace is in the central region of inner Mysore, facing the Chamundi Hills eastward. ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಅರಮನೆಯು ಒಂದು ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಸ್ಥಳವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ರಿಂದ ರವರೆಗೂ ಮೈಸೂರು ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಆಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ವಡೆಯರ್ ಮನೆತನದ ಅಧಿಕೃತ ನಿವಾಸವಾಗಿದೆ. ಅರಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ದರ್ಬಾರ ಸಭಾಂಗಣವಿದ್ದು, ಹಲವಾರು ಅಂಗಳಗಳು, ಉದ್ಯಾನವನಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಕಟ್ಟಡಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಅರಮನೆಯು ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಮಧ್ಯ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು, ಚಾಮುಂಡಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ವಾಭಿಮುಖವಾಗಿ ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.

Biligiri Rangana Betta literally means Bilikal Betta in Kannada Language and Swetadri in Sanskrit houses the famous historical ancient temple of Biligiri Ranganathaswamy. The hill temple is at about 5091 feet above sea level and surrounded by a thick forest. The temple is at the distance of 24 Kms from Yalandur the Taluk head quarters town and about 48 Kms from Chamarajanagar District in Karnataka State. ಚಾಮರಾಜನಗರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ, ಯಳಂದೂರು ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕು ಬಿಳಿಗಿರಿರಂಗನ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಬಿಳಿಗಿರಿಬೆಟ್ಟ, ಬಿಳಿಕಲ್‍ಬೆಟ್ಟ, ಶ್ವೇತಾದ್ರಿ ಎಂದು ಹಲವಾರು ಹೆಸರುಗಳಿಂದ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಗಂಗರ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಜಾರಣ್ಯವೆಂದು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಶ್ರೀ ಬಿಳಿಗಿರಿ ರಂಗನಾಥಸ್ವಾಮಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ಸಮುದ್ರ ಮಟ್ಟಕ್ಕಿಂತ 5091 ಅಡಿ ಎತ್ತರವಿದ್ದು ಯಳಂದೂರಿನಿಂದ ಪೂರ್ವದಿಕ್ಕಿಗೆ 24 ಕಿ.ಮೀ ಹಾಗೂ ಚಾಮರಾಜನಗರದಿಂದ ಈಶಾನ್ಯ ದಿಕ್ಕಿಗೆ 48 ಕಿ.ಮೀ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪರ್ವತ ಶ್ರೇಣಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ.

Bandipur National Park was established in 1974 as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger, is a national park located in the south Indian state of Karnataka. ಬಂಡೀಪುರ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಉದ್ಯಾನವನ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಚಾಮರಾಜನಗರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಒಂದು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಉದ್ಯಾನವನ. ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನ ಮದುಮಲೈ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಉದ್ಯಾನವನ ಮತ್ತು ಕೇರಳದ ವಯನಾಡ್ ವನ್ಯಜೀವಿ ಅಭಯಾರಣ್ಯ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಂದಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ.

Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta is located in Chamarajanagar district of the state of Karnataka, at a height of 1450m India is extensively wooded. It is also the highest peak in the Bandipur National Park. It lies in the core area of the Bandipur National Park and is frequented by wild life including elephants. Dense fog predominates and covers the hills round the year and thus gets the prefix Himavad (in the language of Kannada) and the temple of Venugopalaswamy (Lord Krishna) gives the full name of Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta. ಹಿಮವತ್‌ಗೋಪಾಲಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟವು ಚಾಮರಾಜನಗರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಸಮುದ್ರಮಟ್ಟದಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 1450 ಮೀ ಎತ್ತರವಿರುವ ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶವು ದಟ್ಟವಾದ ವನಸಿರಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೇ, ಹಿಮವತ್‌ಗೋಪಾಲಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟವು ಬಂಡೀಪುರದ ಕಾಡಿನ ಪ್ರಾಂತದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಎತ್ತರದ ಪ್ರದೇಶವಾಗಿದೆ. ಅಭಯಾರಣ್ಯದ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಈ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಬಳಿ ಆನೆಗಳ ಓಡಾಟ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಮುಂಜಾನೆಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಜು ಕವಿದು ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಣ ಪರಿಸರವು ರಮಣೀಯವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಾಗೂ ವೇಣುಗೋಪಾಲಸ್ವಾಮಿಯ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವಿರುವ ಕಾರಣ, “ಹಿಮವತ್‌ಗೋಪಾಲಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟ” ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರು ಅನ್ವರ್ಥವೆನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

This is an ancient temple of Lord Sri Srinivasa (Balaji) situated on the enchanting hilltop Huligadri, near Terakanambi, Gundlupet Taluk, Chamarajanagar District, Karnataka State (80 kms from Mysuru). This is popularly known as “Dakshina Sheshadri“, as narrated in ‘Srimad Varaha Purana’. Lord Sri Srinivasa, worshipped by Lord Sri Rama in treta yuga and Pandavas in Dwaparayuga, blessed the great saint ‘Mandavya Rishi’ on his performance of long penance. ಹುಲಿಗನ ಮೊರಡಿಯ ವೆಂಕಟರಮಣ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ಚಾಮರಾಜನಗರದ ಗುಂಡ್ಲುಪೇಟೆಯ ತೆರಕಣಾಂಬಿಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಮೈಸೂರಿನಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 80 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಹುಲಿಗನ ಮೊರಡಿಯ ವೆಂಕಟರಮಣ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಕ್ರಿ.ಶ. 1498ರಲ್ಲಿ ತೆರಕಣಾಂಬಿಯ ದಾಸಕೇಶವಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿದನು ಎಂದು ಶಾಸನಗಳು ಹೇಳುತ್ತವೆ. ಹುಲಿಗನ ಮೊರಡಿಯ ಬೆಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಹುಲಿಗಾದ್ರಿ, ವ್ಯಾಘ್ರಾದ್ರಿ, ಶೇಷಾದ್ರಿ, ಕನಕಾದ್ರಿ ಎಂದು ಮುಂತಾದ ಹೆಸರುಗಳಿವೆ. “ಶ್ರೀಮದ್‌ವರಾಹಪುರಾಣ”ದಲ್ಲಿ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಶೇಷಾದ್ರಿ ಎಂದು ವರ್ಣಿತವಾಗಿರುವ ಈ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಂಡವ್ಯಋಷಿಗಳು ತಪಸ್ಸನ್ನಾಚರಿಸಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸನನ್ನು ತ್ರೇತಾಯುಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಚಂದ್ರದೇವರೂ ದ್ವಾಪರಯುಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಂಡವರೂ ಪೂಜಿಸಿದ್ದರೆಂದು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರು ನಂಬುತ್ತಾರೆ.
