ಹೊರನಾಡು ಶ್ರೀ ಅನ್ನಪೂರ್ಣೇಶ್ವರಿ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ಭದ್ರಾನದಿಯ ದಂಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿತವಾಗಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಪವಿತ್ರ ಸ್ಥಳವಾಗಿದೆ. ಶ್ರೀ ಅನ್ನಪೂರ್ಣೇಶ್ವರಿ ವಿಗ್ರಹವು ಅಗಸ್ತ್ಯಮಹರ್ಷಿಗಳಿಂದ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿತವಾಗಿದೆಯೆಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಸುತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮಘಟ್ಟದ ಸಸ್ಯಶಾಮಲೆಯು ಎಷ್ಟು ನೋಡಿದರೂ ಮನದಣಿಯದಂತಿದೆ. Sri Annapurneshwari temple in Horanadu is situated on the banks of river Bhadra about 75km from Hiremagaluru. Prathistapana (installation) of Adishakthyathmaka Sri Annapoorneshwari is believed to have been done by Sage Agastya.

ಶೃಂಗೇರಿ ಶಾರದಾಂಬಾ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ಕಿಗ್ಗಾದಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 9ಕಿಮೀ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠವಾಗಿದೆ. ಎಂಟನೆಯ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ವೈತಮತ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಆದಿ ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ತುಂಗಾನದಿಯ ತೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾರದಾಂಬೆಯ ವಿಗ್ರಹವನ್ನೂ ಹಾಗು ಶ್ರೀಚಕ್ರವನ್ನೂ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ದಕ್ಷಿಣಾಮ್ನಾಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾಪೀಠವೆಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವ ಈ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವು ಯಜುರ್ವೇದ ಅಧ್ಯಯನಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಸರುವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. Sringeri Sharadamba Temple located about 51km from Kalasheshwara temple, is an important Shaktipeetha. Sri Adi Shankaracharya (8th Century CE), the proponent of Advaita Philosophy installed the deity of Sharadamba on the banks of River Tunga along with the Sri Chakra. This is referred as Dakshinamnaya Vidyapeetha founded by Sri Shankaracharya for the study of Yajurveda.
