The Goddess Maha Prathiyangara Devi Temple is situated in South India, Tamil Nadu, Tanjore District, Kumbakonam Taluk, Ayyavadi (Iyvarpadi) village, (nearby Arulmigu Oppliappan and Arulmigu Naganata Swami [Raghu Sthalam], 8 Km. south eastern side of the Holy Kaveri River). The Goddess is fully described in the Holy Adharvana vedha, as the supreme goddess in the universe. The rituals (poojas) are performed by the Rishimunis of Prithangiras and Angiras and hence the name "Prathiyangara". This is the only temple described in the Vedhas and the Agamas. The Devi is usually seen as Simhavahini [seated on a lion], but in this temple Devi is seated in a Ratha which is pulled by four Simhas with Lakshmi and Saraswathi on both sides. Devi - Simha Mughi[Face of lion] having 18 hands armored with weapons to kill the evils and wearing mundamaalai [the garland of human skulls] is a sight to see. அய்யாவாடி அம்மன் கோயில் (அல்லது) ஸ்ரீ மகா ப்ரத்யங்கிரா தேவி கோயில் கும்பகோணம் தாலுகா, தஞ்சாவூர் மாவட்டத்தின் அய்யாவாடி கிராமத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது. அம்மன் மேலும் ப்ரத்யங்கிரா அல்லது நரசிம்க போன்று அறியப்பட்டது. அம்மா பெண்சிங்கம் மற்றும் மனித உடலின் இணைந்து தோன்றினார். தேவி ப்ரத்யங்கிரா விஷ்ணு, துர்க்கை, காளி மற்றும் நரசிம்மவின் கலவையாகும். தேவி இல்லையெனில் அதர்வண பத்ரகாளி போன்றது ஆகும்.
