Biligiri Rangana Betta literally means Bilikal Betta in Kannada Language and Swetadri in Sanskrit houses the famous historical ancient temple of Biligiri Ranganathaswamy. The hill temple is at about 5091 feet above sea level and surrounded by a thick forest. The temple is at the distance of 24 Kms from Yalandur the Taluk head quarters town and about 48 Kms from Chamarajanagar District in Karnataka State. ಚಾಮರಾಜನಗರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ, ಯಳಂದೂರು ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕು ಬಿಳಿಗಿರಿರಂಗನ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಬಿಳಿಗಿರಿಬೆಟ್ಟ, ಬಿಳಿಕಲ್‍ಬೆಟ್ಟ, ಶ್ವೇತಾದ್ರಿ ಎಂದು ಹಲವಾರು ಹೆಸರುಗಳಿಂದ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಗಂಗರ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಜಾರಣ್ಯವೆಂದು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಶ್ರೀ ಬಿಳಿಗಿರಿ ರಂಗನಾಥಸ್ವಾಮಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ಸಮುದ್ರ ಮಟ್ಟಕ್ಕಿಂತ 5091 ಅಡಿ ಎತ್ತರವಿದ್ದು ಯಳಂದೂರಿನಿಂದ ಪೂರ್ವದಿಕ್ಕಿಗೆ 24 ಕಿ.ಮೀ ಹಾಗೂ ಚಾಮರಾಜನಗರದಿಂದ ಈಶಾನ್ಯ ದಿಕ್ಕಿಗೆ 48 ಕಿ.ಮೀ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪರ್ವತ ಶ್ರೇಣಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. Sri Kailas Ashram Mahasamsthan in Kenchenahally, which is now a posh locality in Bengaluru called Sri Rajarajeshwarinagar, was founded by His Holiness Sri Sri Sivaratnapuri Swamiji in 1960. It is said that the location of the temple is very solemn as it rests at the south-west corner of the region and between two holy rivers namely Kaveri and Vrishabhavati. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕೆಂಚೇನಹಳ್ಳಿ ಅಥವಾ ಇಂದಿನ ರಾಜರಾಜೇಶ್ವರಿ ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಶ್ರೀ ಕೈಲಾಸ ಆಶ್ರಮ ಮಹಾಸಂಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಶಿವರತ್ನಪುರಿ ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿಯವರು 1960ನೇ ಇಸವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಲು ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದು ಕಾಂಚನಗಿರಿಯೆಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಆಯ್ದುಕೊಂಡರು. ಕಾವೇರಿ ಮತ್ತು ವೃಷಭಾವತಿ ನದಿಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಇರುವುದರಿಂದ ಈ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತವೆಂದು ತೀರ್ಮಾನಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಹಿಂದೆ ಈ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಚಂಪಕವನವೆಂದೂ ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತೆಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
