Kalady, a well famed pilgrim centre, by the birth of Jagadguru Adi Sankaracharya, on the magnificent shores of the Poorna River, the famous Kalady Srikrishna temple situates. For those, thousands of peoples coming here every day at this place of Sankaracharya, Srikrishna Temple is a favourite destination. The pertinence of the Krishna Idol here, it was re-consecrated by Acharya himself in the year AD 795. The sad demise of Acharya’s mother and many continuing unpleasant events, have been appeared in the history itself. The Brahmin families in the village refused to participate in the obituary ceremonies. Only two families were attending the rites out of the prominent 10 brahmins families in the village. Those who were holding the head side of Acharya’s mother later known to be Thalayattumpalli Mana and the rest part of her body caught by the others, famed to be Kappilli Mana. As a blessing from Acharya, now the temple affairs are under the control of these two Brahmin families. Together with Lord Krishna, the main Deity, Sri Ganesha, God Siva and Goddess Parvathi and Sri Dharmasastha are all enshrined as sub deities in this temple. Kanakadhara Yanjam performed on Akshayathritheeya Day, Sri Sankara Jayanathi and Annuval festival are the prominent fests celebrated every year. Next year Kanakadhara Yajnam falls on 18-4-2018. Sri Sankara Jayanthi appears on 20-4-2018. The daily visiting time of the temple is from morning 5.00 to 10 AM. In the evening it is 5.00 to 7.30 PM. At a distance of 7 KMs from Ankamali-Kalady Railway station Kalady Srikrishna Temple situates and it takes some 1 KM from the Kalady Bus station. The distance from Cochin International Airport comes around 7 KMs. ജഗദ്ഗുരു ശ്രീശങ്കരാചാര്യരുടെ ജന്മം കൊണ്ട് പരിപാവനമായ കേരളത്തിലെ കാലടിയെന്ന ഗ്രാമത്തെ തഴുകിയൊഴുകുന്ന പെരിയാർ (പൂർണ്ണാനദി ) നദിയുടെ തീരത്താണ് പ്രസിദ്ധമായ കാലടി ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ലോകമെമ്പാട് നിന്നും അദ്വൈത സിദ്ധാന്തത്തിന്റേയും ഉപനിഷത്ദർശനങ്ങളുടേയും പ്രചുരപ്രചാരകനായിരുന്ന ആദിശങ്കരന്റെ ജന്മസ്ഥലത്തെത്തുന്ന ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് തീർത്ഥാടകരുടെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട ആരാധനാലയമാണ് ഈ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണക്ഷേത്രം. മാത്രമല്ല, എ.ഡി.795ൽ ആചാര്യരാൽ പുനഃപ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കപ്പെട്ട ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണവിഗ്രഹമാണ് ഇവിടെയുള്ളത് എന്നത് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രാധാന്യം വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ആദിശങ്കരൻറെ അമ്മയുടെ ദേഹവിയോഗവും അതേ തുടർന്ന്‍ ആ പ്രദേശത്തെ ബ്രാഹ്മണ കുടുംബങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും മരണാനന്തര ചടങ്ങുകളിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നതിനുണ്ടായ ബഹിഷ്കരണവും ചരിത്രം രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ. അക്കാലത്തുണ്ടായിരുന്ന പത്ത് നമ്പൂതിരി കുടുംബങ്ങളിൽ ചടങ്ങിൽ പങ്ക് കൊണ്ട രണ്ട് ബ്രാഹ്മണ കുടുംബങ്ങളായ തലയാറ്റുമ്പള്ളിമനയുടേയും കാപ്പിള്ളി മനയുടേയും ഭരണനേതൃത്വത്തിലാണ് ക്ഷേത്രമിപ്പോൾ നിലകൊള്ളുന്നത്. ആദിശങ്കര മാതാവിൻറെ മരണാനന്തര ചടങ്ങിൽ, കാൽ (പാദം) പിടിക്കുകയും തല (ശിരസ്സ്) പിടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത പൂക്കാട്മനയും എടമന മനയും യഥാക്രമം തലയാറ്റുമ്പള്ളി മനയെന്നും കാപ്പിള്ളി മനയെന്നും പിന്നീട് അറിയപ്പെട്ടു എന്ന്‍ കുടുംബനാമചരിത്രം. പ്രധാന ദേവതയായ ഭഗവാൻ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണനോടോപ്പം, ശിവപാർവതിമാർ, ഗണപതി, ശ്രീധർമ്മശാസ്താവ് എന്നീ ഉപദേവതകളും ക്ഷേത്രാങ്കണത്തിൽ പ്രതിഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. അക്ഷയതൃതീയദിനത്തിൽ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്ന കനകധാരായജ്ഞം (അടുത്ത കനകധാരായജ്ഞം 18-4-2018 ന്), ശ്രീശങ്കരജയന്തി (20.4.2018), തിരുവുത്സവം (18.1.2018) എന്നിവയാണ് വർഷം തോറും നടത്തി വരുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന വാര്‍ഷികാഘോഷങ്ങൾ. കേരളത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും സുപ്രധാന റോഡുകളില്‍ ഒന്നായ എം.സി. റോഡില്‍ ഉള്ള കാലടി ജംഗ്ഷനില്‍ നിന്നും കേവലം ഒരു കിലോ മീറ്റര്‍ ദൂരം മാത്രമേയുള്ളൂ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്ക്. മാത്രമല്ല, ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് വളരെയടുത്തായി (ഏകദേശം 7 കിലോ മീറ്റര്‍) കൊച്ചിന്‍ അന്താരാഷ്‌ട്ര വിമാനത്താവളവും അങ്കമാലി-കാലടി റെയില്‍വേ സ്റ്റേഷനും സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നതിനാല്‍ ലോകത്തിന്‍റെ ഏത് ഭാഗത്ത് നിന്നും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്ക് സുഖമായി എത്തിച്ചേരുവാന്‍ സാധിക്കും. രാവിലെ 5 മണി മുതൽ പത്ത് വരെയും വൈകിട്ട് 5 മണിമുതൽ 7.30 വരെയുമാണ് ദർശനസമയം.
