ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಸಾಗರ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ‘ಜೋಗ್‌‘ ಮಲೆನಾಡಿನ ಹಳ್ಳಿ. ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ದ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ರಾಜಧಾನಿಯಾದ ಗೇರಸೊಪ್ಪೆಗೆ ಹತ್ತಿರದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವುದರಿಂದ ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ‘ಗೇರಸೊಪ್ಪಾ ಜಲಪಾತ‘ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. Jog is a tiny hamlet in Sagar taluk of Shimoga district. As it is very close to the historical and ancient capital city of Gerusoppe, the waterfalls at Jog is also known as Gerusoppe Falls.

From the historical texts, it is very clear that Honnavar was under the rule of Chennabairadevi of Gerusoppe. This place is very popular for nurturing the dwindling art forms of Yakshagana and Talamaddale.
