Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple at Mandarti is at a distance of 25 km from Udupi in the northern direction. Goddess Sri Durgaparameshwari is the presiding deity of this temple. The name of the village Mandarti is believed to have come from the union of two words “Manda” and “Aarati”, which in Kannada language means holy light.
ಶ್ರೀ ದುರ್ಗಾಪರಮೇಶ್ವರಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ಉಡುಪಿಯ ಉತ್ತರ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ 25 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ಗಳ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮಂದಾರ್ತಿ ಎಂಬ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ‘ಮಂದ+ಆರತಿ=ಮಂದಾರ್ತಿ, ಅಂದರೆ ದಿವ್ಯವಾದ ಬೆಳಕು ಎಂದರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಗ್ರಾಮಕ್ಕೆ ಮಂದಾರ್ತಿ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರು ಬಂದಿತೆನ್ನಲಾಗಿದೆ.
