Urumbikkavu Devi Temple, the only Bhadrakali Temple in Nalambalam temples, facing the northern side, posits in Kottayam District, at a distance of 20 KMs from Palai on Rampuram-Koothattukulam Road. The idol is in Darubimbam. Years back, this Temple was deep inside heavy forests. Now the Janmanakshathra trees are widely planted around the temple. Some 100 meters away from this divine centre, Lord Bharatha Swami’s Temple is also located. Chanthattam, a very rare offering in Devi temples, Irattippayasam, Sarppanivedyam, Pooram Idi etc are the most popular special offerings in this temple. In Varikkaplavu Wood (Jackfruit Wood), Devi idol is engraved. Hence Chanthattam, Devi’s fond-full ritual is counted to be an extra ordinary performance gifting high results. Meenappooram, Kanni Ayilyam and Navarathri Festivals are the main annual festivals of the temples.

ഭദ്രകാളീ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ വടക്കോട്ടു ദർശനവും ചാന്താട്ടവുമുള്ള ഏക നാലമ്പല ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്‌ ശ്രീ ഉറുമ്പിക്കാവ് ദേവീക്ഷേത്രം . മറ്റൊരു ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനും ഈ പ്രത്യേകതയില്ലാത്തതിനാൽ ഏറെ വിശേഷപ്പെട്ട ക്ഷേത്രമായി ഉറുമ്പിക്കാവിലമ്മയുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയെ കണക്കാക്കിപ്പോരുന്നു. ദാരുബിംബത്തിൽ , അതായത് വരിക്കപ്ലാവിന്റെ തടിയിലാണ് ദേവീ വിഗ്രഹം പണിതിരിക്കുന്നത്. ദേവിയുടെ ദാരുബിംബത്തിലാണ് പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകളിലൊന്നായ ചാന്താട്ടം നടത്തുന്നത്. ദേവീ പ്രീതിക്കായി നടത്തിവരുന്ന ചാന്താട്ടം ഏറെ വിശേഷപ്പെട്ട ഒരു വഴിപാടായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. കാലങ്ങൾക്കു മുൻപ് കൊടുംകാടിനു നടുവിലായിരുന്നു ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. ഇപ്പോൾ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനു ചുറ്റും ജന്മനക്ഷത്ര വൃക്ഷങ്ങൾ നട്ടു വളർത്തി സംരക്ഷിച്ചു പോരുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്ര പരിസരത്ത് നിന്നും ഏകദേശം നൂറുമീറ്റർ അകലെയായി ശ്രീരാമ സഹോദരനായ ഭരതന്‍റെ ക്ഷേത്രവും കാണാവുന്നതാണ്. ചാന്താട്ടം, പൂരം ഇടി, ഇരട്ടിപ്പായാസം, സര്‍പ്പനിവേദ്യം എന്നിവ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകളും മീനപ്പൂരം, കന്നി ആയില്യം, നവരാത്രി എന്നിവ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന വാര്‍ഷികാഘോഷങ്ങളുമാണ്.
