About Temple

Sri Krishna Swami temple is located at the heart of Thodupuzha in Idukki district of Kerala. The temple is located on the banks of Thodupuzhayar, a tributary of Muvattupuzha River. The presiding deity of the temple is Srikrishna. Idols of Sri Vathilmadom Bhagawati, Maha Ganapati, Sri Durga Devi, Salagramam, Sri Sasthavu, Lord Shiva and Nagam have also been consecrated on the premises of this temple. The temple is being managed and maintained by Nedumbilly Tharananalloor Mana of Irinjalakuda in Thrissur district. (This Mana (Namboodiri/Brahmin family) has the right for conducting Tantric rites for the famous Sri Padmanabha Swamy temple of Thiruvananthapuram).

ഇടുക്കി ജില്ലയില്‍ തൊടുപുഴ പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ ഹൃദയഭാഗത്ത് കിഴക്കോട്ടു ദര്‍ശനമായി തൊടുപുഴ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഹിമാവത്ശൃംഗങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് ഗംഗാനദി എന്ന പോലെ സഹ്യസാനുക്കളില്‍ നിന്ന് ഉത്ഭവിച്ച് ഈ പ്രദേശത്തിന്‍റെ ദക്ഷിണഭാഗത്തു കൂടി കളകളാരാവത്താല്‍ ഭഗവത്കീര്‍ത്തനം പടിക്കൊണ്ടും ഈ ധന്യഭൂമിയെ ഹരിതസമൃദ്ധികൊണ്ട് വശ്യമനോഹരമാക്കിക്കൊണ്ടും ‘സ്പര്‍ശാപഗാ’ തൊടുപുഴയാര്‍ ഒഴുകിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. പഴയ തൊടുപുഴ – മൂവാറ്റുപുഴ താലൂക്കുകള്‍ ഉള്‍പെട്ടുവരുന്ന പ്രദേശങ്ങള്‍ ഒരു കാലത്ത് കുലശേഖര സാമ്രാജ്യത്തിലെ സമന്തവംശ രാജവംശമായ “കീഴ്മലൈനാട്” രാജാക്കന്മാര്‍ ഭരിച്ചിരുന്നതായും ആ രാജവംശത്തിന്‍റെ അധികാരാവകാശങ്ങള്‍ കാലാന്തരത്തില്‍ വടക്കുംകൂര്‍ രാജാധികാരത്തില്‍ ലയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. പിന്നീട് തിരുവിതാംകൂര്‍ മഹാരാജക്കന്മാരില്‍ നിക്ഷിപ്തമായ ഈ ക്ഷേത്ര ഭരണാവകാശം അവരില്‍ നിന്നും ഇന്നത്തെ ഊരാഴ്മക്കാരായ നെടുമ്പിള്ളി തരണനെല്ലൂര് ഇല്ലത്തേക്ക് ലഭിച്ചു. ശ്രീ പദ്മനാഭസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്‍റെ തന്ത്രികാവകാശം ഈ മനക്കാരില്‍ ആണ് നിക്ഷിപ്തമായിരിക്കുന്നത്.
