About Temple

In Ernakulam district, Veettoor is a village in Muvattupuzha, where in Vadakkekkara Siva kshethram situates. A symptomous temple with every auspiciousness, has the spreading touch of ancients of antiques, with very rare ‘Vattakkovil’ – a round sanctorum. Lord Shiva in the presiding deity here, Mahadeva in his vigil form, who is the God promising Mruthyunjayam, takes the devotees far away from the fear of death. Another particularity is, no other sub-deity is here. Yearly once Sivarathri and Thiruvathira star dates in every month are well oriented and enjoyed here. The Prasada Oottu on these days are prominently performed.

എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിലെ മൂവാറ്റുപുഴയ്ക്കടുത്ത് വീട്ടൂര്‍ എന്ന ഗ്രാമത്തിലാണ് വടക്കേക്കര ശിവ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. പൌരാണിക തുടിച്ചു നില്‍ക്കുന്ന ലക്ഷണയുക്തമായ ഒരു മഹാക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്‍റെ അളവോടുകൂടിയ വട്ട ശ്രീകോവില്‍ ആണ് ഇവിടുള്ളത്. ശിവനാണ് പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. മൃത്യുഞ്ജയനായ – മരണഭീതിയകറ്റുന്ന – മഹാദേവന്‍റെ ഉജ്വല പ്രതിഷ്ഠയുള്ള ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ മറ്റ് ഉപദേവതകളില്ല. ശിവരാത്രിയും, എല്ലാ മാസത്തിലെ തിരുവാതിര നാളും ഇവിടുത്തെ പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്. ആ നാളില്‍ നടത്തുന്ന പ്രസാദഊട്ടും പ്രധാന്യമുള്ളതാണ്.
