About Temple

The ancient Sri Ananthapadmanabha Swamy temple is at Perdur, a village at a distance of 20 km from Udupi and 32 km from Hebri in Karnataka. Perdur has gained prominence due to the existence of Sri Ananthapadmanabha Swamy temple.

The two-ft. high, very attractive idol of Sri Ananthapadmanabha at Perdur temple is adorned with a conch and a holy disc in two hands and the symbol of Abhaya or protection from all evils and ills in one hand.

ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಾಚೀನವಾಗಿರುವ ಶ್ರೀ ಅನಂತಪದ್ಮನಾಭ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ಉಡುಪಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 20 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ಹಾಗೂ ಹೆಬ್ರಿ ಯಿಂದ 32 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪೆರ್ಡೂರು ಎಂಬ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಪೆರ್ಡೂರು ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಶ್ರೀ ಅನಂತಪದ್ಮನಾಭಸ್ವಾಮಿ ದೇವಾಲಯದಿಂದಲೇ ಖ್ಯಾತಿ ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.

ಸುಮಾರು ಎರಡು ಅಡಿಯಷ್ಟಿರುವ ಶಿಲಾಮೂರ್ತಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಅನಂತಪದ್ಮನಾಭನು ತನ್ನ ಒಂದು ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶಂಖ, ಒಂದು ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಕ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುರುವನಲ್ಲದೆ, ಒಂದು ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಭಯಮುದ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ತೋರುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
