About Temple

Sri Bangaru Kamakshi Amman Temple is located in the temple town of Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu. The presiding deity in the temple is Goddess Kamakshi. The word Bangaru means gold in Telugu. As the idol of Sri Kamakshi in this temple is made of gold, the temple is named as Bangaru Kamakshi temple. It is built by the king of Thanjavur
This temple is simple in design and is facing towards the north direction. It has a small gopuram (tower). At the entrance of the temple, there is a big stone idol of Ganesha called as Varada Maha Ganapati. The sanctum sanctorum enshrines the golden idol of Kamakshi. She is found in the yogic padmasana posture and holds a parakeet in her right arm.
The temple is under the administration of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam of Kanchi.

தமிழ்நாட்டிலுள்ள தஞ்சாவூர் மாவட்டத்தில் ஸ்ரீ பங்காரு காமாட்சி அம்மன் கோவில் உள்ளது. இந்த கோவிலின் முக்கிய கடவுள் காமாட்சி அம்மன். பங்காரு என்பதற்கு தெலுங்கில் தங்கம் என்று பொருள். இந்த காமாட்சி விக்ரமானது தங்கத்தால் ஆனது. ஆகவே இந்த கோவிலுக்கு ஸ்ரீ பங்காரு காமாட்சி அம்மன் கோவில் என அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. இது தஞ்சை அரசரால் கட்டப்பட்டது.
இந்த கோவிலானது சாதாரண முறையில் வடக்கு நோக்கி இருக்குமாறு கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஒரே ஒரு சிறிய கோபுரத்தை உடையது. இக்கோவில் நுழைவாயில் வரத மகா கணபதி என்று அழைக்கப்படும் கணேசரின் பெரிய கல் சிலை உள்ளது.
கர்பகிரகத்தில் தங்கத்தினால் ஆன காமாட்சி அம்மன் சிலை உள்ளது. அவர் யோக பத்மாசன நிலையில் கையில் ஒரு பராகித் என்ற ஆயுதத்தை வலது கையில் உள்ளவாறு அமைந்துள்ளது. இக்கோவிலானது காஞ்சி காமகோடி பீடத்தினால் நிர்வகிக்கப்படுகிறது.
