About Temple

The Ancient Temple of Udupi, Sri Chandramouleshwara is located at the end of the Ratha Beedhi (Car Street). The outer yard of the temple premises, houses Sacred Tulasi Brudavana and Theertha Bhaavi (Sacred Well). The premises of the temple is very huge. The Main Deity Lord Shiva is consecrated in the form of Linga. Lord Shiva is adorned with a silver mask, having a moon over it.

Shivarathri, the most significant festival of the temple is celebrated with Pomp and Grandeur. The Administration of the temple is under Sri Puthige Matha, one of the Astha Matha’s of Udupi.

ಉಡುಪಿಯ ಪುರಾತನ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಶ್ರೀಚಂದ್ರಮೌಳೀಶ್ವರ, ರಥ ಬೀದಿಯ ಅಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿದೆ. ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ತುಳಸಿ ಬೃಂದಾವನ ಮತ್ತು ತೀರ್ಥ ಬಾವಿ ಇದೆ. ದೇವಾಲಯವು ವಿಶಾಲವಾದ ಪ್ರಾಕಾರವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಗರ್ಭಗುಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರು ಚಂದ್ರಧರನಾದ ರಜತ ಶಿವನ ಮುಖವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿ, ಲಿಂಗರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಈ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿವರಾತ್ರಿ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವವನ್ನು ಬಹು ವಿಜೃಂಭಣೆಯಿಂದ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಆಡಳಿತವನ್ನು ಉಡುಪಿಯ ಅಷ್ಠ ಮಠಗಳಲ್ಲೊಂದಾದ ಪುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಮಠದ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನವು ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದೆ.
