A 15 KM towards the northern side away from Trichur, the cultural capital of the state of Kerala, an ancestral temple situates. Perayil Bhagawathy Temple, with every beautitudes of the country-sides locates in a magnificent village “Perayil” in a combining valley of the two mountains Machadu and Vazhani. The temple is also known as South Kalighat. ‘The elegance of nature’ falling, it looks, may be, many are visiting the temple, as if experiencing a pilgrimage. This holy place is blessed with the enshrinement of Bhadrakaleeshwari. The deity is engraved in Krishnasila, posits under a Poovam tree.
The temple renovation plan was beginning with May 1st of the year 2007. Brahmashri Chennas Dineshan Namboothirippadu is the thanthri here. The highly honourable spiritual eminence, Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Jayendra Sarawathi Swamikal was to pave the foundation stone for the Holy beginning of the grand renovation programmes. After the successful completion of rejuvenation works and astrological remedial rituals, reinstallation of the diety at the newly built sanctum sanctorum was held ceremoniously, on the auspicious day of Pooyam Nakshtram of Midhunam 1180 (Malayalam Calender), the 8th day of July 2005, the temple was open.
The presiding deity is Bhadrakali with many sub deities as Lord Ganapathi, Goddess Durga, Goddess Kiratha Parvathi, Swamy Hanuman Ji, Nagaraja-Nagayakshi all taking the spiritual power of the shrine well up. The annual festival on Makarachova day in the Makara masam and the Prathishta dinam on Pooyam star date in the month of Midhunam are grand annual festivals. Ponkala, is a highlight, a ceremonial ritual of the females in the month of Medam every year. A half an hour drive can take a devotee to the temple from Trichur, a fabulous place with every conveyance. From Trichur Railway station, the distance comes to some 15 KMs to the temple. At a distance of 10 KMs in Wadakkanchery Railway station, people can get down in passenger-express trains. The temple timings are, 6 to 9.30 in the morning and 5.30 to 7.30 in the evening. Particularly on Tuesdays the time varies from 6AM to 11 AM.

കേരളത്തിൻറെ സാംസ്ക്കാരിക തലസ്ഥാനമെന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന തൃശൂർ നഗരത്തിൽ നിന്നും ഉദ്ദേശം പതിനഞ്ചു കിലോമീറ്റർ വടക്കോട്ടു മാറി സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ശ്രീ പേരയിൽ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം. മലയാള നാടിൻറെ ഗ്രാമഭംഗി വിളിച്ചോതുന്ന പേരയിൽ ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ, മച്ചാട്-വാഴാനി മലകളുടെ താഴ്വാരത്തിലാണു് ക്ഷേത്ര സങ്കേതം. പ്രകൃതി രമണീയത ദൈവീക വരദാനമായി കിട്ടിയതുകൊണ്ടാവാം ഇവിടെ അനേകം ഭക്തർ ഒരു തീർഥാടനത്തിനെന്നവണ്ണം അനുദിനം എത്തിച്ചേരുന്നത്.
“തെക്കൻ കാളീഘട്ട്” എന്നു കൂടി പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഏറെ പഴക്കമുള്ള “പൂവം” എന്ന വൃക്ഷത്തിന്‍റെ താഴെ “കൃഷ്ണശിലാ” വിഗ്രഹത്തിൽ കടഞ്ഞെടുത്ത ഭദ്രകാളീ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയാൽ അനുഗ്രഹീതമാണ്.

ലോകപ്രസിദ്ധമായ ഗുരുവായൂര്‍ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്‍റെ തന്ത്രിമുഖ്യന്‍ ബ്രഹ്മശ്രീ ചേന്നാസ് ദിനേശൻ നമ്പൂതിരിപ്പാടിന്റെ താന്ത്രികത്വത്താല്‍ അനുഗൃഹീതമായ പേരയിൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്‍റെ പുനരുദ്ധാരണ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് തുടക്കം കുറിച്ചത് 1.5.2003 ല്‍ അഭിവന്ദ്യ ആത്‌മീയ ആചാര്യനായ ശ്രീ കാഞ്ചി കാമകോടി ജയേന്ദ്ര സരസ്വതി സ്വാമികളാണ്. എല്ലാ വിധ പുനരുദ്ധാരണ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ദൈവജ്ഞ ഹിതപ്രകാരമുള്ള പരിഹാര കര്‍മങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ശേഷം 8-7-2005 ല്‍ പുനപ്രതിഷ്ടാ കര്‍മങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തി ക്ഷേത്രം ഭക്തര്‍ക്കായി തുറന്ന് കൊടുത്തു. പ്രധാന ദേവതയായ ഭദ്രകാളിയ്ക്ക് പുറമേ, ശ്രീ ഗണപതി, ദുര്‍ഗാ ഭഗവതി, കിരാത പാര്‍വതി, ഹനുമാന്‍ സ്വാമി, നാഗരാജാവ്-നാഗയക്ഷി തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രതിഷ്ഠകളും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്‍റെ ആത്മീയാന്തരീക്ഷത്തിന് ശക്തി നല്‍കി ഇവിടെ നിലകൊള്ളുന്നു. മകരമാസത്തിലെ മകരച്ചൊവ്വ ദിവസം ആഘോഷിപ്പെടുന്ന വാര്‍ഷികോത്സവവും മിഥുന മാസത്തിലെ പൂയം നക്ഷത്ര ദിനത്തിലെ പ്രതിഷ്ടാ ദിനം എന്നിവയാണ് പ്രധാന വാര്‍ഷികാഘോഷങ്ങള്‍. മേട മാസത്തിലെ പൊങ്കാല മഹോത്സവവും ആചാരപൂര്‍വ്വം അനുഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. തൃശൂര്‍ പട്ടണത്തില്‍ നിന്ന്‍ ആവശ്യാനുസരണം ബസ് സൗകര്യം ഉള്ള ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്ക് അര മണിക്കൂര്‍ ഡ്രൈവ് കൊണ്ട് സ്വകാര്യ വാഹനങ്ങളിലും എത്തിച്ചേരാവുന്നതാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ നിന്ന്‍ 15 കിലോ മീറ്റര്‍ ദൂരത്തായി എല്ലാ വിധ ട്രെയിനുകളും നിര്‍ത്തുന്ന തൃശൂര്‍ റെയില്‍വേ സ്റ്റേഷനും പത്ത് കിലോ മീറ്റര്‍ ദൂരത്തായി പാസഞ്ചര്‍, എക്സ്പ്രസ് എന്നീ ട്രെയിനുകള്‍ നിര്‍ത്തുന്ന വടക്കാഞ്ചേരി റെയില്‍വേ സ്റ്റെഷനും സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ദര്‍ശന സമയം രാവിലെ 6.00 മുതല്‍ 10 വരെയും വൈകിട്ട് 5.30 മുതല്‍ 7.30 വരെയുമാണ്.
