Nandi hills is at an altitude of 4851 ft. from the sea-level and is located at about 60 km. from Bengaluru. The place is now more popular as Nandibetta. Historically, Nandi Hills was part of a region which was under the rule of at least five dynasties such as Western Gangas of Talakadu. Cholas, Hoysalas, Pallavas and the Vijayanagar Empire.
Nandi hills is a protected Monument under the Monuments Act of India. It is being maintained under the Archaeological Survey of India.

This temple complex is under the governance of the Department of Muzrai, Government of Karnataka.

ನಂದಿಬೆಟ್ಟವು ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಪುರಾತತ್ವ ಸರ್ವೇಕ್ಷಣ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಇಲ್ಲಿರುವ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಮುಜರಾಯಿ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಅಡಳಿತಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಪಟ್ಟಿವೆ. ಭೋಗನಂದೀಶ್ವರ ಮತ್ತು ಯೋಗ ನಂದೀಶ್ವರ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಅವಳಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನಗಳೆಂದೇ ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಕರುನಾಡ ಕುಲು ಮನಾಲಿ, ಮಸ್ಸೂರಿ ಎಂದೇ ಖ್ಯಾತವಾದ ಗಿರಿಧಾಮವಾದ ನಂದಿಬೆಟ್ಟವು ಸಮುದ್ರಮಟ್ಟದಿಂದ 4851 ಅಡಿ ಎತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ 6೦ ಕಿ.ಮಿ. ದೂರವಿದೆ. ಯೋಗನಂದೀಶ್ವರ, ಭೋಗನಂದೀಶ್ವರ ಹಾಗೂ ಅರುಣಾಚಲೇಶ್ವರನ ನೆಲೆವೀಡಾದ ನಂದಿಗಿರಿಯು ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಹಾಗೂ ಪುರಾಣ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಶಿವದೇವಾಲಯಗಳುಳ್ಳ ಸ್ಥಳವಾಗಿದೆ. ನಂದಿಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಕೆಳಗಿರುವ ಹಳೆಯ ನಂದಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಭೋಗನಂದೀಶ್ವರ ಹಾಗೂ ಅರುಣಾಚಲೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳಿವೆ. ವಿಶಾಲವಾದ ಪ್ರಾಕಾರವನ್ನೂ, ಮುಖ್ಯದ್ವಾರವನ್ನೂ, ರಾಜಗೋಪುರವನ್ನೂ ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿರುವ ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯಸಮುಚ್ಚಯದ ಗಾತ್ರವು 370 ಅಡಿ ಉದ್ದ ಹಾಗೂ 240 ಅಡಿ ಅಗಲ.
